Rachel POV

I watched as Harriet and Sonya rush over to the Box-hole, the same one I came through just the day before. What on earth is happening? I ran over to them to see Sonya hop down into the Box. Could it be another-

"It's a boy..." Sonya breathed. Curious, I joined the packeded-in girls to look down into the Box. I looked into that boy's face, and from that moment, little did I know, my life changed. He was the most handsome person I'd ever seen; brown hair and a beautiful face. He was almost the picture of perfection except... was he... dead? There were tons of whispers exchanged among the other girls, and somehow I couldn't help feeling a twinge of... defensiveness? Jealousy? As if the boy was mine to protect.

"Someone get him out of the Box and to the Med-Hut. He looks like he's dead."

"I'll help!" I immediately offered without thinking.

Harriet gave me a harsh look and pointed to two other girls, appointing them to the job instead.

They lifted the boy up and out of the Box, and I couldn't seem to take my eyes off him. I was lost in a trance... of love at first sight? I didn't think I believed in that before this day.

Suddenly the boy sat upright on the ground where he had been set down, gasping for air. His eyes were a gorgeous blue-gray color, the most entrancing that I'd ever seen. His hand was lifted into the air, holding a singular piece of paper. Sonya slowly approached him to grab it. I quickly rushed over to see what it was, getting another glare from Harriet.

The blonde girl slowly unfolded the piece of paper, gasping aloud as she seemed to read it.

"What does it say?" I ask impatiently.

"He's the last one ever..." Sonya replied quietly. I felt my heart flutter in my chest. Does this mean... maybe he could be mine? I thought, then realizing how stupid that sounded. At the same time, though...

The boy collapsed once again, giving me the innate desire to reach out and help him. Hold his soft hand, even if it was only for a brief fleeting moment. It took everything in me to sit around and let those stupid "Med-Jack" girls deal with it. Maybe I should become a Med-Jack just for cases like these, I thought. But deep down I knew that there weren't gonna be any more "cases like these," and that this boy would be very special to me. Beth, a girl who had already been very suspicious of me from the moment I arrived, stepped up with a frown.

"I bet the Blondie has something to do with this," she sneers. Never did I want to punch someone so badly. Never in the small amount of memory I had, that is.

"Could you just shut up for once, Beth?" I growled at her, surprising even myself with my sudden courage to speak to her like that.

"I know what you did," the bully said through a stone-cold expression. She quickly turned and stormed off to who-knows-where, leaving me feeling successful. My attention turned back to the boy. How could one describe how... perfect he looked? Better yet, why did I love him so much despite not knowing him at all? It was as if I'd known him my whole life, and loved him my whole life too. Could it be, in some way, that I knew this boy in my life before the past day or so? If so, I knew we had been more than friends.
