the year 2005 (Lizzy is 9 and Drew is 11 here!)

"Lizzy! You're Late for school, hurry!" Lizzy's mother says, "Sorry, mom." Lizzy says, running down the stairs, "You're late; don't you know how much of a discussion you've missed right now!" Her dad yelled

"Honey, calm down; she's only ten minutes late," Lizzy's mom says. Lizzy's father started making his way to Lizzy. "Don't ever be late to school again!" The father yelled, slapping her face. Lizzy cried, then ran out.

"Are you insane, Stuart? The mother yelled, "I am not, Tatum! She probably missed a lot in a discussion right now! I don't want to raise a dumb and stupid child!" Her father shouted, "She is nine! Nine, and dealing with your abuse."

Lizzy was hearing everything.

"It's not my fault that I have a daughter; if we had a son, things would be different," Stuart yells. "What kind of a father are you?" Tatum says, running up the stairs.

She got to school, walking nervously. As she went through the hallway with her books, she bumped into a 5th grader, which made her books fall to the ground.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry," She said, kneeling down to grab her books. "No problem," The boy said, extending his arm to help her up. "Thank you," Lizzy said, walking to her classroom.

It was now recess time, and everyone was playing at the playground, while Lizzy was staring at them and asking, "Why aren't you playing?" The same boy from the hallways asked, "I don't really have friends in this place, so I'm not going to play if I'm not playing with anyone."

"Don't you have any snacks?" He questioned. "My parents don't have time." Lizzy responded, "Who are your parents?" He asked again, "Tatum and Stuart Beauregard."

The Boy had shock in his eyes. "Stuart Beauregard? Have you heard how crazy he is? I'm sorry that he's your father."

"I'm sorry for myself too. And what do you mean by How crazy he is?" Says Lizzy. "Well, I Don't think you read the newspaper," He says. Lizzy then shook her head.

"Your father, back in his teenage years, was an unsober man who was caught selling drugs and got arrested for five years." He explained, "I know my dad isn't sober, but he was a drug dealer? Wait, who are you?" Lizzy questions

Yes, he was a drug dealer. It's in the old newspapers. And I'm Drew, by the way, but my Real name is Joseph. I just really like going by my Middle name."

"Thanks for telling me, Drew." Lizzy says, "Do you want to take a walk after school?" Drew inquires, "I'm going to call my mom. Hold on."

Lizzy takes out her cellphone and contacts her mother: "Hey, Liz, why are you calling?" Tatum asks, "May I take a walk after school... with a friend?

"Sure, no problem, you can bring your friend Home too. Anyways, I need to go now; I'm cooking lasagne," Tatum says, hanging up.

"She said yes."

It was then the end of the day. Lizzy and Drew were taking a walk. "I'm sorry for asking, but How strict is your father?" Drew asks.

"Well, he slapped me because I was ten minutes late. And he's such an abuser." Lizzy says, "You deal with that at the age of nine?" He questioned, with him being shocked.

"Yeah," Lizzy says in an unfortunate tone. "Hey, friends?" Drew says, holding his pinky. Friends," Lizzy says, smiling and making a pinky promise.
