Why did I pick the room with the biggest window?" I grumbled then I remembered something.
"Oh right" things needed to be done today. And first is the person knocking on the door at 6:00 in the morning.
I walked towards the door to open it. Only hear another knock. I open the door in some shorts and an oversized shirt. Regardless of who it was, turns it was Ms. Mary. I would be happy if I didn't do what I did yesterday.
I stared at her wondering if this is how I die.
"Good morning, uh Nadine that is how you pronounce it right" she said seemingly pronouncing it from memory.
"Yes, and good morning, to you maybe." I said mumbling the last part.
"I brought breakfast and it seems you needed it."
I assumed she could sense me being grumpy through my neutral face.
I opened the door wider welcoming her in. If there is one way to my heart it's food. She began sitting things on the table. A bagel, donuts, and the glorious coffee. I just couldn't help myself.
I walked next to the coffee and sat down and started drinking it. It was what she owed me for waking me at god forbid 6:00.
"So, I've come to tell you that nobody is rooming with you this year." She said with a pitiful frown.
I am glad. Because I'd be downright miserable if I had to wake up at 6:00 every day.
"Oh and I have your uniform and schedule," she said, sliding a bag and a piece of paper towards me.
''Thank you" I said, having finished my coffee and ready to start the day. I pulled the schedule to observe it and noticed something.
"I'm sorry but it says I'll go to therapy during my electives every week?" I Asked.
"Oh yes every person new here has too. It is to make sure you're doing alright." She said,
"Oh" Clearly you could see this was the "I'm-going-to-skip-every-session" oh.
"Well I better be on my way, see you tomorrow at school." She said as she opened the door to leave.
"Can you sign the permission slip for me please" I said finally speaking up and holding out the slip.
She stood there for a while then she grabbed the slip and signed it.
"Thank you" I said as she closed the door.
She left the other undrunk coffee. It must be my lucky day. I stood up and grabbed the coffee, which was still hot, and drank it like water. Then I continued on my way to my room to get ready. I threw on some khakis and a collared shirt and a sweater with some Mary Jane's.
I grabbed my keys and walked out calling the driver. I really got to get her name. I soon made it to the front of the school where the driver was waiting.
I stared out the window, wondering how to start small talk. I guess my answers weren't heard because soon she said we were here
I climbed out and closed the door to turn around and she had already driven off. Oh well next time. I walked in the grocery store with my list ready to go.
I needed fruits and vegetables with chicken stock, beef and chicken, pasta noodles, milk and cheese, granola bars, with sauces and spices. It was all I needed. I began to ring up and pay for it.
Then I went to the waiting car and put my groceries in with the help of the driver.
We drove all the way back to the dorm in silence. It was peaceful.
We arrived at the dorm and I started to pick up the groceries out of the car. I couldn't hold all of them, but soon a girl came and helped me.
We went to my dorm and directed her where to sit.
"Thank you, um." I said while starting to take the groceries out of the bag.
"It's Alex, and you're welcome." She said with a soft reassuring smile
"Um, do you want to stay for dinner?" Softly blushing as I said that.
"Sure," she replied.
"Great, um you can come back at 7:00 at dorm 314 if you forget." I replied excitedly.
"Bye then, see you later." She said as she walked out the door.
"You know, what I may be gay." I said with no context at all.
