How It Started

"Hey, are you guys ready for this? This is a rare once in a life time opportunity." Nate says to his group of friends standing around him. They all look up at him, but the friend he's closest to slaps him on the back.

"Nate we've been ready for days, we've all practiced the material they gave us and we are ready. Stop asking you're just gonna make the others nervous." Kent says taking his hand off Nate's back.

"You're right, I need to just calm down it's just I'm so excited." Nate says taking a deep breath. As he does he takes a moment to look where they're headed they've been on a boat for at least an hour now heading towards their companies most exclusive and top secret headquarters and lab. The ocean water was so beautiful the sky as clear as it could be and the air was just as good, the only problem was the heat.

"Hey guys, how long have we been with the Xencon Corp. now? Has it been 3 or 4 years?" Nate asks trying to change the stressed atmosphere he created.

"Well for You and me it's been 5 years, 2 years in coding for the security systems and 3 in developing the most advanced combat simulator to exist." Kent says laughing a little bit know full well the Nate is horrible at socializing.

"I don't know how you seem to forget this given the fact we're engaged but you got me my job in the animal genetic research division 4 years ago ya dummy" Mikala pipes up playfully rolling her eyes at Nate.

"As for me I started out around the same time you and Kent did, but I had started out in the med bay for 2 years before I handed in the script for one of my movies. Apparently they liked it so much I got promoted to film and show producer for the company 3 years ago" Joelee says.

"Wait wait wait you started in the Med Bay? With your temper? How many patients did you off for talking smack huh? Nate says laughing.

Joelee with an incredibly fast jab punches Nate in the arm causing him to fall over. Kayland bends down and helps him up giving him a hand.

"Well as you know you and Joelee got me my job in the psyche analysis ward 3 years ago" Kayland says as he pulls Nate up off the floor of the boat. Nate dusts himself off and rubs his arm, pulling up the sleeve to reveal a bruise forming already.

"You know Joelee, you only prove my point with your fist but we love ya anyway and don't worry I won't ask about your mortician.. I mean med bay career again" Nate says chuckling as he continues rubbing his now bruised and sore arm. Joelee rolls her eyes and laughs as she walks up behind Kayland and moves him out of the way. She grabs Nate's arm pulls up the sleeve to examine where she hit him.

"Well in my professional medical opinion your arm is fine, now would you like a lollipop or a toy for being such a good little boy" Joelee says as she pulls down Nate's sleeve.

"I'll take a lollipop thank you" Nate says back as Joelee and Kayland go back to where they originally were standing.

As they did, Xencon Corp. base came into to view and it was huge. The main part of the base was sphere but on the outside of that massive sphere were two rings that forms a X around the sphere. The boat we were on started to slow down and the company's escort came up onto the deck of the boat.

"Ladies and Gentlemen please join us below deck, for security reasons cannot have you see the entrance route or the initial entry of the facility." Says a tall man in a metallic maroon suit coat with a black shirt and tie.

They all look at each other for a a moment wondering what's going on before quietly making their way down to the bottom deck of the boat. When they reached the bottom of the stairs they saw a lavish room with five state of the art virtual reality stations.
