Bang.
"Hmm."
Boom. Crash.
"Oh, he almost had them. Just a bit more."
Boom.
"Aw, he missed."
Boooooom.
"Well, that one should have gotten them.", Alver stated casually. He and Cale are perching on a nearby roof, watching the chaos unfold down the street. The low railing gave them the perfect view over the battle. Two conveniently placed chairs were abandoned nearby and the duo instantly claimed them as their own.
The battle in question was already going strong when Cale and Alver were transported onto the roof; unceremoniously thrown onto the ground before the spirits escaped in a flurry of golden sprinkles and loud giggles.
Cale started to hate the cute laughter of the spirits. It made his skin crawl.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that they were back in Korea. Skyscrapers of various sizes, cement grounds, and no forestry in sight. Just the good old city. What changed, however, was the time they were transported there.
If Alver had to take an educated guess, they arrived after the apocalypse hit Earth.
Supporting his theory was the devastation below with abandoned buildings, cars littering the streets, and the rather unmistakable presence of a raging monster smack-dab in the middle of the crossing. As if it knew the less-than-pleasant opinion Alver had on that matter, the monster let out an earsplitting scream.
"So dramatic.", Alver rolled his eyes.
It wasn't that the quarter dark elf didn't care about the innocent lives that were in danger. He did care. But this is an illusion world and Alver can't do anything. His hands would go through them and he would only be able to watch as the life left their eyes.
So, he did the second-best thing.
Searching for a vintage point, placing themselves there, and watching the fighter make mincemeat out of the monsters and vice versa.
Cale agreed with his reasoning and they both sat in comfortable distance from the chaos.
An older but still young- although, grumpy as ever- Kim Rok Soo took shelter behind an overturned car. His teammates, Lee Soo Hyuk and a grinning Choi Jung Soo were also within chewing distance if the monster ever decided its sharp teeth aren't just for show. The monster snarled at the trio.
Cale looked impassively at the chaos below, wincing only slightly when Jung Soo danced around the monster with his sword held high. An awkward silence descended when the pointy edge of the sword met the furry armor of the beast. With a loud click, the sword broke in half while the monster stood unharmed.
Choi Jung Soo cursed.
"That's cheating!", Alver could hear the affronted man shout, utterly outraged.
The earlier explosion, at least, disposed of the monster's companion and the trio only had to deal with one remaining enemy. Rok Soo's certainly deadpan response got carried away by the wind. Alver could imagine what his partner's past self said.
"Did this fight really happen?", Alver asked when Lee Soo Hyuk- and no, Alver wasn't passively aggressively glaring at the man, Cale is his dongsaeng and Alver is the one with the hyung title- conjured another sword out of nothing, giving it to the beaming Choi Jung Soo. Kim Rok Soo was still hiding behind a car, minding his own business while the monster chewed on some other car parts.
"I remember it a bit differently, but mostly, yes.", Cale admitted. The fight resumed below. A shouted "Duck, you dimwit!" was accompanied by cheerful laughter and a resigned sigh.
