Eleanor was a quite young girl, with black hair and green eyes. She's always wanted to be a witch, but her parents have always said that that isn't possible, but Eleanor didn't believe them.
"Eleanor, listen to us, honey. You can't be a witch." Her mother said, making Eleanor frown and furrow her eyebrows, clearly fed up with hearing the same thing again.
"How would you know?! Have you ever tried to be?" Eleanor said, her voice raised. Her mother's eyes widened before she pointed to the stairs, it being her mother's first instinct to ground her daughter.
"How dare you raise your voice at me. To your room, young lady! You're grounded." Her mother yelled at her. Eleanor let out a loud groan as she ran up the stairs, slamming her room door shut. The fantasy-filled girl packed some stuff into her school backpack. She then opened her window and climbed out to the wet grass. She looked at the forest they lived across from. She went to the road and went to walk over before a car drove past her, almost hitting the girl. The car still swerved into the ditch, and the girl just ran into the forest to not get caught by anybody.
Eleanor had now been walking for a while. The forest only had gotten thicker and thicker as she continued walking further into the woods. Eventually, the girl saw something in the distance. It had the silhouette of a cosy house. Eleanor's eyes widened as she saw the silhouette of the house. She began running towards it even though the forest was as thick as a forest could get, as she approached the house her foot got caught on a root, causing her to tumble to the cold ground with a yelp.
As the girl fell, a tall woman managed to appear in front of her, catching the girl before she could hit the ground.
"Are you alright, darling?" The woman said as she helped Eleanor to her feet, she looked up at the mysterious woman"I'm fine.. thanks.." Eleanor said in a quiet tone, the woman let out a sigh of relief before she smiled.
"That's great, my name is Wilma." The woman said happily. "I live here in the woods, to make sure no kids like yourself end up in any danger while trying to find shelter." Wilma added, her smile was such a kind one that Eleanor couldn't be scared of.
"Eh? There's been others here?" The child asked, tilting her head to the side. Wilma nodded with a slight frown.
"Yes, there have been kids like you here, but all of them ended passing on. So i couldn't say goodbye to them." She said in a sad tone, Eleanor thought for a second about what the woman said 'passed on?' she thought. But she didnt think anything of it really. Wilma took hold of the childs hand as she began walking back to her cottage.
"Your free to stay as long you'd like, i've not gotten company in atleast a year now. You'll get your own room and everything." The woman said with a smile. Eleanor let a wide smile appear on her face as she followed the woman to the cottage, Wilma showed Eleanor around the cottage, it wasnt all too big but it was cosy yet there were some questionable items laying around. Eleanor had spotted toad legs, eyes of a newt, dog nails and so on. Lastly they came to a stop at the room Eleanor would be staying in.
"This is were you'll sleep, and you better get some rest because tomorrow will be a big day for you and me." Wilma said before leaving the room, closing the door behind her. Eleanor looked around as she spotted a pyjama, she got dressed into the pyjama before laying in the bed. Upon beginning to fall asleep she said to herself.
"This is definitely a cozy cottage in the forest.."
