At first, I thought it was a joke. A cruel, elaborate prank played by my friends to scare me. But as the days went by, I began to realize that it was all too real.

It started with a mysterious letter that arrived in the mail, addressed to me. Inside was a single sheet of paper with a strange symbol scrawled in black ink. At first, I thought it was some kind of joke, a silly prank pulled by one of my friends. But as I examined the letter more closely, I began to feel a sense of unease creeping over me.

The symbol on the page looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. It was a twisted, almost demonic-looking shape, with sharp angles and jagged edges. I tried to dismiss it as a meaningless doodle, but the more I looked at it, the more it seemed to hold some kind of hidden significance.

Over the next few days, strange things began to happen. I would wake up in the middle of the night, feeling as though I were being watched. My phone would ring, but when I answered, there would be no one on the other end. I started to see the symbol from the letter everywhere I went, etched into the walls of buildings and scrawled on the pavement.

I tried to tell my friends what was happening, but they just laughed it off. They thought I was being paranoid, that I was seeing things that weren't there. But I knew something was wrong. I could feel it in my bones.

And then, one night, I heard a knock at the door. When I opened it, there was a figure standing on my doorstep, dressed all in black. It was the first time I had seen the symbol from the letter on a person, etched into the fabric of their robe.
At that moment, I knew that this was no joke. This was something far more sinister, something that threatened to consume me completely. And so, with a racing heart and trembling hands, I stepped out into the unknown, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
