Heroes

I marched into the assembly, not thinking much. I walked past a window and saw my reflection in it, short brown hair cut cleanly to the back of my head, it was a bit longer on the top than I liked it but I did not care much. I could see my long black wings trailing behind me sticking out of my suit. Even though they are usually folded up, the tips of them always trail behind me. As I entered the room with all of the other heroes I met eyes with an unusual one. He had stringy, messy, long black hair, glasses, and a very small frame. I looked away quickly and took my seat at the front of the table while all of the other heroes watched me, tracking my every movement. 

“So, we are here to try and track down the new big bad. The Dream-Catcher is the newest villain. They have been collecting government secrets before destroying the buildings or vehicles that withheld them. No deaths so far, so we are hoping to catch them early before they cause more of a problem. Here are all the known images of them.” I handed the images to Mandrake, she was a tall woman with a muscular frame and jet black hair. I did not care for her much, in my opinion she was an arrogant prick, but I had to look past that since she was one of the strongest heroes. Mandrake took a packet of photos and passed the stack to the hero next to her. The photos were blurry but you could clearly see that the villain was wearing an all black mask that covered his entire face except for small slights where their eyes would be. They had a black jean jacket over a gray hoodie. They had sweat pants on, and besides the fact that they were holding guns and his mask, they looked like a normal teenager. “They mostly attack using hand-made technology. They appear to be a genius, but that isn’t something we can’t handle.”

“If they make new technology do you really expect to catch him, nevertheless find him. At Least not with your ‘powers.’” Mandrake emphasized the word “Powers.” I ignored her arrogance knowing damn well she couldn’t find him either. 

“At least he has flight and radar technology, plus he literally has the power of satan and god on his side.” Hercules chimed in. He was a muscley man, tall too, and rather handsome. Mandrake rolled her eyes and turned away from us.

“I say we should go into teams, Mandrake and I, Hercules and Benny, then Osmun and Borzi.” Layia said, interrupting the argument.

“Yes, I agree.” Said Hercules, to which a few others responded by nodding their heads. I was partnered with the skinny kid who apparently is named Osmun.

“Hello, as you may have heard before I am Borzi.” I said stretching my hand out to Osmun in an attempt to shake hands.

“Osmun.” Osmun replied, shaking my hand. His hands were oddly soft for a man, nevertheless a hero, but at the time I did not think much of it. 

“May I have your number for the partnership, or email whichever you prefer.” I said hurriedly, a blush growing across my face.

“Yeah.” Osmun opened a holograph on his watch and typed in his number to a message bar. A few seconds later my phone dinged and I got a text from a contact labeled “Osmun.” I was perplexed. Most watches had holographs, but I had never seen one that could do that.

“Did you design this?” I was astonished. Osmun simply nodded his head instead of boasting about his design which was quite a relief from how Mandrake and Hercules were. “Do you want to meet up to try and catch this villain soon?” I asked.

“Sure. My place on Friday?” 

“Uh, sure. Where is that?”

“Apartment 17 on Baker street.” 

“Oh, Ok.” 

Friday came quite quickly. I decided to fly to Osmun’s place since it was not far. I loved to feel the air on my face, and the whistle as it whooshed by my ears. Just the feeling of my wings cutting through the air was enough to calm me down. I had worn a tan suit with a brown, male, corset on top. I thought it looked quite nice on me and accentuated my waist in a nice way. I saw the sign for Baker Street below me and I quickly dived down to the ground.
