Alex spent the next few days poring over the proposal, analyzing every detail and considering every possible outcome. He couldn't deny that the potential benefits of the alliance were enormous. With Johnson Enterprises as a partner, Stone Corporation could expand into new markets and solidify its position as a leader in the technology sector.

But the thought of marrying someone he didn't love still weighed heavily on his mind. He couldn't imagine spending the rest of his life with someone who was only interested in him for his business connections.

As he sat in his office, lost in thought, his phone rang. It was his best friend, Ryan.

"Hey man, how's it going?" Ryan asked.

Alex sighed. "I'm having a tough time," he admitted. "My dad's trying to set me up in an arranged marriage for business reasons."

Ryan's voice was incredulous. "What? That's insane. You can't just marry someone for business."

"I know," Alex said. "But the proposal makes sense from a business perspective. And if I don't go through with it, I could be risking the future of the company."

Ryan was silent for a moment, clearly thinking. "Look, Alex," he said finally. "I know you're a businessman, but you're also a person. You deserve to be happy, and you can't sacrifice that for the sake of a business deal."

Alex nodded, knowing that Ryan was right. But the decision was still a difficult one.

Over the next few days, Alex spent a lot of time thinking and soul-searching. He talked to his family and friends, trying to gain perspective on the situation. And he talked to Zoa, getting to know her better and trying to determine if there was any chance of a real connection between them.

In the end, he made his decision. He called Zoa and arranged to meet with her at a local café.

"Zoa," he said, as they sat down with their coffee. "I've thought a lot about your proposal, and I have to admit, it's a great opportunity. But I can't marry you just for business."

Zoa's face fell, but she nodded understandingly. "I understand," she said. "I had hoped that we could make it work, but I respect your decision."

Alex took a deep breath. "But that doesn't mean I'm not interested in an alliance between our companies. I think it's a great idea, and I'm willing to work with you to make it happen."

Zoa's face brightened. "I'm glad to hear that," she said. "I think we could do great things together."

Over the next few months, Alex and Zoa worked closely together, building a strong business partnership that benefited both of their companies. They became close friends, but there was never any romantic spark between them. And Alex was okay with that. He knew that he had made the right decision for himself, and he was proud of the successful partnership that he had helped to create.

As he sat in his office, looking out over the city, he knew that he had made the right decision. He had followed his heart, and he had still managed to build a successful business alliance. And he knew that his father would be proud of him, not just as a businessman, but as a person.
