"Damn, I ain't know Steph was this fresh."

Mya and Sam went through some of Steph's things I had on my dresser while I stuffed my bag with things to wear.
"Mya is your mom ok with this?" I asked, realizing we didn't get approval.

"I'm sure she'll say yes." She said, flipping through one of Steph's notebooks.
"Mya, this is not funny." I said, snatching the notebook from her. "Call her and ask right now. I'm not packing a bag for nothing." She sucked her teeth and went in the living room to call her mom.

Sam sat quiet in the corner of the room, also reading from one of Steph's notebooks.

"Sam what's up? You ok?" I asked, sitting beside her. "Yeah it's just, he's actually gone." I shook my head as I looked down at the floor. I didn't know it affected them too. We were all around Steph but, he was my brother. I didn't even think they cared. "Damn Sam. I didn't think you cared." I said lightly. "Of course I do. Your like a sister to me. I couldn't imagine losing a sibling. " we hugged for a while until she brought the book to my attention.

"Steph was a poet?" She asked. Showing me a page in the Notebook.

I hadn't read the books yet. I was still tryna get through the clothes and shoes.
"See look, The world is black and white, and the people are the colors."
She paused for a second before I busted out laughing. "Now I see why he ain't let me read this shit. What is he talking about?" I laughed, grabbing the book.
"Tianna that is deep." Sam tried to convince me. "It must be if you think so." I chuckled.

"Honestly, that's beautiful. Maybe he wrote some of these about you." Sam said.

I shrugged my shoulders and went back to packing my bag.

Mya walked back into the room with a bag of chips and something to drink.

"Mya, what are you doing?" Sam asked.

"Oh nothing, Tia's mom was talking to me about her favorite shows on t.v right now. Got a little carried away."
"Girl, you must be lying. Did you even call your mom?" I asked. "Oh yeah, she said it was ok." "Did she really, cause last time she slammed the door in our face." Sam said.

"Yes, really. Now hurry up, we still gotta go to Sam's house."

I grabbed my stuff and we left to go to Sam's house so she could get her stuff too.

"We'll wait out here. Just hurry up."
"Ok, don't run off. " Sam said as she went in her house.

"Can you believe we're graduating?" Mya asked me.

I shuffled through my purse tryna find my lip gloss. "Yes actually. 13 years of this bullshit is finally up." I said with relief. "We actually about to be adults. I think I'ma be sick." Mya joked.
I shook my head as I continued to look for my lip gloss.

"You must like being around me."
A male voice approached.

"Oh heyy." Mya said.

I turned around and it was that boy we saw earlier that day. I rolled my eyes and pretended I didn't see him.

"Yo. Y'all live over here?" He asked, stuffing a Swisher in his pocket and holding his keys in his other. "Nah, we just waiting for our friend." Mya said all giggly. "Oh ok. What's up beautiful." He said, walking up to me. I didn't respond, just looked up at him. "I guess I'm getting ignored today." He joked.

"I told you she'll warm up to you."

"You probably right, I ain't get called an old man this time." He chuckled.
"What's up with you?" I asked him. "Why do you wanna talk to me so bad?"
"I don't. I just thought it would be rude not to speak."
