As Robin awoke, the sun hadn't risen. The stars were still glistening, the moonlight shimmering against their black curtains. As it creeped through the curtains' openings, it brought a sense of calm across them. The subtle hints of blue light coming from the rooms' LED'S hadn't changed the brightness of the moon.
Why it was so bright, they didn't know. What had changed, or happened, for it to be bright? Disregarding the fact, they grabbed their phone and airpods, and tried to listen to music to get back to sleep.
Their music could be heard faintly from within their airpods, but loud enough to relax them into a state of slumber once more. Drifting slowly and slowly into the depths of their dreams, the room had gone quiet. It had once returned to its quiet, cold, dark state, yet again.
Once they had dreamt in the dark, their slumber seemed to be experienced by the conditions of the room. They had thought about the day to come, the day before today, and so on. For what had been altered, to change their dreams?
As the night crept on, they tossed and turned in their slumber. And once more, the moonlight crept into the curtains. Robin awoke once more, as if the moonlight predicted their slumber. Their confusion grew once more, and they knew why.
In the corner of their room, a small, innocent-looking creature had sat in the small area. It took up the space, it's body seemingly black entirely. As it stood, it seemed odd. Almost as if it was an apparition.
Rubbing their eyes, they couldn't figure out what it was. "H-hello...", they asked. It seemed confused, turning its head as if it couldn't understand their dialect. "Don't be frightened, I won't hurt you..", Robin spoke gently. It crept closer, inching its way onto their bed.
And in the blink of an eye, they were asleep once more. Had the mysterious figure made them sleep? What was it...?
As the sun shined through the curtains, the day had began. And once more, Robin had awoken. An alarm blaring on their desk, they stumbled up to turn it off. Yet another draining day of school, they thought. But it wasn't, was it? They couldn't rationalize what they had seen in the previous night.
What was it? Where had it come from? What was its purpose?
So many questions had been brough into the light, yet, none of them could be answered. Robin lacked information and answers, but they didn't know why. They quickly dressed and got ready, and listened to their music on the walk to school. But, something felt off. Different, almost. Like the energy had shifted unevenly. Shrugging it off, they viewed the scenery during the walk.
Dark shadows from the big oak trees, which had smaller plants cowering under its leaves. Animals running and trying to hide from people for safety. The sun, shining down on the sidewalk, creating shadows as they walked.
Even though each days' walk was the same, today was different. It felt different. As Robin walked, they felt like they were being followed. Looking around in every direction, they didn't see anything.
Perhaps it was just a false feeling, they asked themself as they tried to rationalize the situation even more.
Approaching the school building, they turned off their music and put their phone away. They walked into the building, and the energy was different. Different from usual, and worse than it had been all morning. As they walked around the halls, they heard things all day. But what were they, that was bothering Robin so much..?
TBC.
