"YES!" Kanno shrieked in excitement.
There's no way I actually got in, Kanno thought as he stared at the thick white envelope in his trembling hands. He had just returned from a stroll when he saw it sprawled on his table.
Upon further inspection, the envelope was sealed with a red wax seal that had the logo of Ferrucyon High, a Ferrucyon fox, the founder of the school and of course Kanno's ancestor. The envelope felt good to the touch and had red swirls and patterns that represented fire over it.
Kanno had always wanted to enter Ferrucyon High, since his own parents were alumnus of Ferrucyon and his uncle was the headmaster. His yearn to enter Ferrucyon only strengthened when his parents passed away, he felt that his parents would have hoped for the same thing.
His parents....they were a perfect couple, kind, caring...they were a perfect family until....the car accident...
Clear drops of tears trickled down. Kanno's vision blurred as his eyes welled up with tears. He felt empty, thinking about them. He had lost everything, the moment it happened. The house became devote of warmth, there were no more family outings, no more sounds of a happy family laughing. Even the plants on the balcony started dying...
A firm hand gripped Kanno's shoulders. It felt warm.
"Hold yourself together, nephew," came his uncle's voice from behind, "Think about what you're parents would say if they see you in this state because of them."
" 'Which baby fox is crying' " Kanno recited between sniffs.
"That's right. Now, back to business boy. I see you have finally found the acceptance letter I placed on your table," Uncle said jokingly.
"Of course I saw! What do you mean by 'finally found'? " With that, he didn't feel like crying any more. He felt annoyed that his uncle always had to tease him in the middle of everything, and ruining the mood.
"If you would excuse me, I'll leave you on your own, assuming that you won't miss me the moment I leave," the red haired man smirked, and gracefully slid outside, closing the door behind him.
That smirk, annoyed Kanno the most. Sure it was charming, but when you see that every time he teases you, it ain't charming, it becomes annoying.
Kanno could hear his uncle laughing as he descended down the stairs. He rolled his eyes. He definitely will never miss his uncle alright. In fact, he could not wait for that man to leave.
"Hah," Kanno sighed as he began pealing the seal on the envelope.
Out came a letter, and some lists. Kanno assumed they were lists of books and clothes he had to buy. After all, Ferrucyon is a boarding school, so naturally many uniform were to be bought. He quickly read the letter, which introduced him to Ferrucyon and basic things that Kanno long knew. Who wouldn't have memorise that long speech of his uncle's that he kept rambling about. Still, Kanno couldn't help but be grateful for having the headmaster as his uncle.
There was a date with time at the end of the letter, the last day of March, after the Equinox. The reporting time was before dawn.
Two more months, no rush, Kanno calmed himself down.
The following days, he decided to research a bit about where he could get the books, clothes and other materials listed in the list given. He also planned what to buy on which days or weeks.
It was time to prepare for his new life in school. Wondering what experiences he would have there, Kanno yawned and stretched his paws. Circling a little before finally finding the right spot and curled up snuggly among the identical looking pillows.
