Weeks had passed, and the expedition day was looming closer. The new recruits, although they seemed fine at the moment, wouldn't be singing the same tune the day they were set to leave the walls, and two months from now, most wouldn't even make it back in one piece, or alive for that matter.

Karin, surprisingly hadn't been over run with work, and was proud that she hadn't procrastinated about filling out paper work and orders, as that meant she had a little more time to herself, or so she thought.

Even though she hadn't had that many confrontations with Levi, someone else was always there to take up his spot. Be it Lyra, or Sage whom both, seemed to tease her, despite her being Sage's squad leader.

Taking cautious steps, Karin tried her best to sneak back to her office, her insomnia had settled down this month, and so she was determined to catch up on lost sleep. And she wasn't about to let anyone take that away from her.

Lyra had been on her case about Levi a lot more than usual, and to be honest, she was a bit creeped out with the amount of odd looks she gave her. Although she ignored them, and carried on with her business.

Just as her hand reached her office's handle, a hand landed on her shoulder and spun her around. Speak of the devil, Karin thought with a sigh, staring with an unamused look towards the red head, whose shoulder length hair framed her face. Showing false innocence. Or so Karin liked to think.

"Ugh. You look like him"

"Don't you dare make that comparison... What do you want Lyra?"

"I'm hurt that you would think that I'd need a reason to talk to my best friend"

"And do you have one?"

"Yes. I'm avoiding Hanji, she's trying to get me to take part in one of her experiments... No thank you, I'd like to keep on living."

"Good to hea-" Her words were cut off as Lyra's hands went to her friends cheeks. "Wywa webt gwo"

"What? I thought dogs loved being coddled" A smirk appeared on her face as she began squishing Karins cheeks. Karin just stood there and stared at her, not looking entirely amused at what was happening, she even let out a little growl.

"Aww, hush puppy"

"Wywa, I'm serwioush" She did let go, only to drag her into a a tight hug, playfully petting her hair. "Hehe, so soft" Despite her cheek being pressed against the girls shoulder she still managed to speak, and attempted to get out of her clutches. "Wyra webt gwo"

"You sound so adorable, are you sure you aren't a dog?"

"Yes, now webt gwo!" Karin pushed against Lyra's grip and did get away from her, slightly, however she was still caught in the hug, but her cheek was no longer being pressed against Lyra's shoulder.

"Jeez you're such a stormy puppy, aren't you? Aren't you?" She may have been trying to contain her amusement, or she may have not, but either way it was prominent on her face. "Oh I love being taller than you."

"Shut it"

"Hello short-arse" Sage interupted, coming out of nowhere and placing his hands on Lyra's shoulders, flashing that stupid grin of his. Karin moved her glare over to him, which he merely chuckled at. So much for respect, she thought.

"Bastard," She hissed, still struggling in Lyra's iron grip. "Lyra seriously, let me go"

"Woof."

"No, I'm not a damn dog"

"Woof and I'll let you go"

"No"

"Fine by me" With those words, she slung the blonde over her shoulder and began spinning, causing Karin to turn paler than she already was. "Ly-ra..." She mumbled, closing her eyes tightly.
