Kassandra wakes up early the next morning. Her body aches everywhere; the muscles in her legs, arms, chest, abdomen and neck feel like they weigh two Tonnes each. She stretches and sits up, rubbing her. She frowns and gets out of bed.  She went into the bathroom,
turning on the shower, allowing the hot water to run over her body. She slowly removes her clothes before stepping under the warm stream, relishing in the relief that the hot water provides. She closes her eyes as she leans her head

back against the wall and relaxes. The coolness of the water causes goosebumps to rise on her skin, causing her to shiver a little. She continues to stand under the shower until the water becomes too hot.
After stepping out of the shower, she wraps a large towel around herself before drying off. She brushes her teeth thoroughly and dries her hair with another towel, combing it until it falls naturally on either side of her ears. She then puts on her dressing gown and slippers before making her way outside of the room and downstairs. The sun is barely rising, the sky filled with darkness. She can smell fresh air, and the air fills her lungs with a delightful scent of pine and wood and the sea. She inhales deeply, taking in the familiar scent and allowing it to calm her senses.
She reaches the bottom of the stairs and starts walking towards the kitchen but stops dead in her tracks when she notices someone standing inside, leaning on the island counter, drinking some coffee. She recognizes his silhouette at once as he turns around to stare directly at her. "Good morning!" He smiles brightly at her.
"Morning," she returns quietly.
"What are you doing up so early?"

"Couldn't sleep."
He chuckles softly. "Well, you look like you need a good
night's sleep. Would you like me to make you breakfast?"
She shakes her head. "No, thank you."

He nods. "I see. Have you eaten breakfast?"
She nods. "Yes. I already ate."
His smile widens. "Then I shall prepare you another cup of coffee."
"You don't have to-"
"Please. Please let me," he pleads with a pleading expression on his face.
She sighs. "Alright. Thank you."
The rest of the morning passes relatively quickly. He serves her another cup of coffee, which she accepts gratefully after eating several pieces of toast and some jam. By the time he's finished preparing the breakfast she's ready to collapse. "Do you mind if we continue where we left off?" He asks as he sets the dishes in the sink and wipes his hands clean. "If not, that's okay, too."

She shakes her head. "Go ahead."
He steps closer, holding up his hands as if he wants to hug her or caress her cheek. Instead, he places them on her waist, and she suddenly finds it difficult to breathe. "Is something wrong?"
She swallows nervously. "No. Everything's fine."
He studies her for a second, obviously unconvinced. Eventually, he releases her waist and pulls away. "Are you sure? Because if there's anything I can do-"
She smiles slightly. "There's really nothing you can do. Thanks, though."
He hesitates for a moment before nodding slowly. "All right. If you change your mind, I'll be upstairs."
She nods. "Okay."
With one last look at her, he walks out of the room.
She breathes deeply, trying to steady her breathing. What has gotten into me? I must have been dreaming or something. It doesn't explain why I was feeling like such an utter fool all of the sudden. I wasn't even doing any talking! Or was I, really?
She glances at the clock on the kitchen counter.
She suddenly thinks about Spirou.
Her gaze softens as she remembers the events of yesterday, and she lets out a sigh. I wish I could see him again. She bites her lip. What is going to happen now? Will he try and contact me again? Or will he just leave it? She sighs again. She doesn't know anymore.
she swiftly turns and sat in the living room and turned on the radio
the news was talking away about the current war with Germany spreading ever so slightly to Belgium. Kassandra stares at the radio, listening to the broadcast intently.
a new voice cuts through the news anchor's explanation, catching Kassandra's attention.
"Breaking news, citizens. We have received a tip off from sources in the police force saying that German forces intend to invade Belgium. The Belgian government is currently evacuating their citizens who are unable to move due to an attack on Brussels Airport by unknown assailants. The authorities are urging people to return home at once to avoid further harm. A spokesperson for the Belgians said, "The only thing we want to accomplish here is to help free those affected by this attack. That is why the Belgian Army will be sending aid workers to every nation, regardless of its affiliation."
The voice fades away, and Kassandra stays silent for a while as she contemplates the words uttered by the news anchor. Then she sighs.
It looks like we won't get any more time to meet. I wonder where he went... Maybe he'll stay away from me. She stares blankly at the radio, until her gaze shifts towards the window and she sees the first ray of sunlight coming through the curtains. It's morning.

At 6.30 she knew she'd forgotten something in her purse.
as soon as she got to the hotel entrance, she persistently scowered her purse.
a dark figure appeared in front of her..
