Veronica's eyes were open before her body. She hated mornings but could never find herself sleeping past 8am anyday, it just never happened. She stared up at the ceiling wondering what she would spend her day doing.
"Nothing".... She knew she would spend the rest of her day doing nothing but still thought about it.
Veronica,5ft5, beautiful and light skinned. Slim but curved in the right places, her body was firm and tight, yet she had only ever worked out twice in her 25 years. Veronica had been a writer for five years already,in those five years she had written 7 books and 2 where made into movies. She was an orphan, a fact that never really bothered her. She missed her parents occasionally but on those rare occasions she only recalled the memories she had of them and smiled.
Veronica stood up from her bed and went straight to her bathroom, it was a large room with a bathtub and white tiles. Glass doors surrounded the bathtub, parting the toilet and the bathroom. She eased herself and walked to the mirror, she stared at herself. She had a new pimple just below her chin, she stared at it for a moment then started to raise her had towards her face to touch it. The phone ringing from her room startled her, she turned on the tap and rinsed her hands quickly and rushed back to the room. In the room, she picked up her phone, looked at the caller's ID and groaned.
"Hello",she said softly.
"There you are!",Mark shouted over the phone with fake enthusiasm.
Veronica winced at the sudden noise and sat down on her bed.
"Mark,hey",she answered reluctantly.
"For the love of God veronica,do something. It's been six months already, six months! I need a book, please",he whined.
Veronica rubbed her forehead and sighed.
"I know mark,i will get you something soon. I need more time, there has been no sort of.....errrr inspiration lately, I just need more time",she pleaded.
" Then travel or something,do something, ANYTHING than keep yourself in your house all day. There's no time on our side, THIS is a contract. People are waiting, TALENTS are waiting for you to have your final draft reviewed by now and you haven't even started yet!",he almost screamed
" You are panicking mark", she whispered.
" Fuck! Yes i am, i am going crazy here"
" Mark give me a few days to think please i will call you again soon",she said and cut the phone before he could give her a response.
She sighed and stood up from her bed,she headed straight to her kitchen.
Her small apartment was spectacular, she was proud of it. Her place was built looking like a large hall with white painting. You could see every room from wherever you were standing because each room had no doors, her bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and library where all in the open and standing in their own corners but not disturbing each other. There was so much space and ventilation, she always felt like she was in her own small world. She never worried about not having other rooms because she never had anyone visiting, she loved it that way.
There were two wide windows, one on each end of the hall.
On one end was her kitchenette and the other her work table, she loved the window at her work table. It was a wide ceiling to floor window, giving her a beautiful view of the road below.
She had fallen in love with the space the moment she saw it and refused any walls or blocks, she had insisted to her landlord that she wanted the space exactly the way it was and proceeded to build her bathroom, walk in closet and a tall shelf for her library. She knew she had three other neighbors but she had never met any of them more than four to five times since she moved in a year ago.
In her kitchenette, she made coffee and carried her cup to the other end of the room and stood by her window looking down at the road.
Once again her mind went back to her manager,Mark. This was the first writer's block she had had since she was 22 and she was a bit worried.
Mark being on her neck was one but the contract she had signed was more important, those directors and actors were counting on her. She sighed again and looked at her work table, her laptop sat on the table open.... waiting.
"Oh boy",she muttered and went to the table.
She sat in front of the laptop and took in a deep breaths. She sat her coffee on the table gently and turned on her laptop, she opened a blank page on her word document and stared at the blank page.
She reached forward and began to type, she felt her breathe seize immediately and nausea hit her. She wheezed and began to hit her chest, fear gripped her and she tried to scream but nothing came out of her mouth. She ran to her bathroom, opened the toilet cover and vomited, she had nothing in her stomach except the coffee she had just had,so she just kept retching.
She sat there after, breathing rapidly until her heart rate became normal then she cried. Heart retching tears in huge fat drops on her lap, in her bathroom beside the toilet.
