A daunting off white eye slowly opened surrounded by a dark vacuum of space where nothing could be heard and no motion could be detected. Little Lu floated in the void of black with her yellow checkered print sundress flowing with the unexpected light breeze that passed by.
"Do you know why you're hear, Lu?" A tender voice coming from her conscience asked.
With wide, startled eyes and her mouth a gape, the girl slowly shook her head, no. Her matted and wild wavey hair floated about the space as she did so.
"You...ventured into a strange territory. No human is supposed to be aware of my existence. But, a little innocent girl like you wouldn't be able to comprehend me. What I am. Where I am. You hardly know yourself. A little ten year old girl has no business with me. Yes. You came here by accident no?"
Lu stayed still. Staring in a mixture of awe and fright. The presence did not feel threatening to her but not knowing what was communicating with her was quite unsettling.
"Answer me child."
"Y-yes I did. I am so confused, what brought me here and why?'
"Do you remember what you were doing before this?"
Scrunching her brows with her eyes shut, her mind went blank.
"So you don't." The voice concluded.
"Very well, this is less of a problem than I thought it was. Don't worry little child, I have decided to spare you."
"From what?" Genuine confusion scattered across Lu's face. "And how did you know what I was thinking?"
"You mean apart from your clueless express? Well, I could tell you this. I am everywhere and one place all at once. In you, infront of you and all around."
"What? How?"
"That's just it, I'm incomprehensible. And I also need to send you back to where you came from."
"No, wait tell me more. Who are you"
"Good bye Lu, this will all be removed from your memory."
"Wait, don't go!" A flash covers her vision and she looks down. She is in her backyard, on her knees seated surrounded be fresh green overgrown grass. Butterflies fluttering around her, hopping from flower to flower.
"There you are, I've been looking all over for you. Always trying to avoid your chores. Get up now child, the dishes aren't going to wash themselves." A sturn yet chirpy voice erupted from behind the tall grass, dragging her up and pulling her towards the two story rustic looking house.
"Why aren't you talking? Has something happened?" She was not being her usual chatty self, alarming her youthful looking mother.
Lu stopped in her tracks, pulling her arm out of her mother's firm grasp. "How did I get here now?" She whispered to herself.
" What? Speak up child. I don't have time for one of your stupid little games." She once again grabs her arm and pulls her towards the house. " I really don't know what to do with you and your brother. Neither of you ever help around. This is why I have to be rough with you. I don't want to be but I have no choice." The woman rambled to herself as Lu stared at the passing grass, still in a trance.
Swinging the door open the mother pulls her towards the kitchen screaming "Fredrick, I told you to clean up the living room! You know your father's coming home today."
"Daddy's coming home?" Questioned the small child.
" Oh so that's the only way to get you back to reality, eh? Yes I have been saying this for a week now. Have you not been listening?"
