It was a surprisingly breezy late morning in the city of Connecticut. 6 '1, 22 year old Kyle Broflovski stood on a grand stage in a long, charcoal gown with a box-like charcoal hat, graduating from Yale's Law Program after claiming top spot as best in class 2K23. Despite his grand achievements, he had nobody to celebrate them with. Well, apart from his family.
When spending most of his time studying, Kyle rarely ever went out. He didn't make many friends in college much to his dismay. But he did have Theo. Theo was in the same classes as Kyle and coincidentally was also his roommate. Theo and Kyle were actually somewhat of an item.
The only other friend he really has is Kenneth McCormick, 22 year old high school dropout, working as a bartender in Skeeter’s Bar back home in South Park.
South park was a touchy subject for Kyle as he hadn’t spoken to anyone he surrounded himself with as a child in years, he never even visited. He never came home for the holidays, which didn't sit too kindly with his mother, Sheila. He hates South Park. He never wants to go back.
“Kyle Broflovski!” The chancellor beckoned him to centre stage to accept his diploma.
Kyle was actually offered to make a speech for the class of 2K23 but gracefully declined as he wasn't a fan of the public attention. He sees his mother in the crowd, practically screaming with joy and endless enthusiasm.
He shaked the Chancellors hand and walks off stage. Walks may be the wrong word. He practically runs off stage, silently begging his mother to stop embarrassing him.
After the long and very boring ceremony, Sheila is jumping at Kyle, bear gripping him into a hug by the neck as Kyle wraps his arms around her waist, reciprocating the hug.
“Oh! My little bubbeleh is all grown up and graduated from college! We’re so proud of you, Kyle.” Sheila lets out, tears threatening to spill from her orbs and releasing Kyle from the embrace.
“Thanks, Mom. Thank you for coming today.” Kyle exclaimed with a smile.
“We wouldn't miss this for the world, son!” Kyle's father, Gerald, is now standing behind Sheila, a hand on her shoulder.
“Hey Kyle, now that you’re all old and stuff, you can buy me alcohol.” His 17 year old brother Ike exclaims with a devilish smirk creeping on his face.
“Nice try, Ike.” Kyle says, rolling his eyes.
“Worth a shot.” He says with a grumble.
“We have all of your things loaded in the car, boy, let's get going.”
For the first time in four years, he was returning to South Park. His Mother insisted that he stay in his childhood home until he finds a job and can pay his own way. He wouldn't have to pay back his student loans as he was on a scholarship. So as soon as he starts earning, his plan is to get the hell out of South Park as soon as possible.
“Alright dad, I’ll be there in a second. Just need to do something first.” Kyle replies after checking his phone. He runs back to his now empty dorm room. The only thing occupying the room now is a 5’7 brown-eyed brunette.
“Hey, dude.” Kyle walks towards his ‘lover’ and embraces him in a tight hug.
“I needed to say goodbye, Kyle. I’m going to miss you so much.” Theo replies, a silent tear leaks from his right eye.
“You could visit me in South Park y’know, to like, keep me sane and stuff. I am really dreading going back.” At this point, Kyle pulls away and holds Theos shoulders, looking him in his teary eyes.
“I know, and I will! As soon as I sort everything out back home in Utah.”
“How long will that take?” Desperateness leaking from Kyle’s voice.
“About two-ish weeks. Think you can go without me that long?” Theo says with a smirk.
“Oh, how will I live without the great Theodore Bridgett!” Kyle replies with the same smirk.
“How about a parting gift.” Theo makes a suggestive hand gesture, running his hand up and down Kyle's torso.
“That would be much appreciated Mr. Bridgett.” Kyle smirks and puts his hand on Theo’s cheek.
“The pleasure’s all mine.” Theo’s knees harshly hit the floor and after fifteen minutes, Kyle is leaving what he knew as his home for the last four years.
Kyle makes his way to the car his father rented and sits in the back with his brother Ike.
“What took you so long, Kyle? We've been waiting for twenty minutes!” Sheila asks.
“Just saying goodbye to a friend, mom.” He smiles to himself. He hadn’t told his parents about Theo, nor has he told them that he is actually gay. He’s waiting until he moves to spring the news on them out of fear that they won’t take the news that great.
“Alright then, bubbeleh. Home we go! Oh, aren’t you just so excited Kyle, I heard that Stan is coming back home too for a little while. Wouldn’t it be so great if you two reconnected?” Sheia rambles for a while about how happy she is to have Kyle back in South Park for nearly thirty minutes until she took notice that nobody was listening and just turned the radio up.
They made it to the airport. Most of Kyle's things had already been returned home so he just had one small suitcase with him filled with clean, neatly folded clothes. His family also only carried a single suitcase. An announcement was made calling all people on the Denver flight to go to boarding. This is it, back to South Park he goes.
