Havers paced his room in annoyance, running his hands Through his hair. He longed to be able to be with the captain for longer and not have to make pitiful excuses to be able to see him.
He longed Not to have to hide his feelings. to be able to hold cap in his arms and dance to moonlight records, playing faintly in the dead of night. He was frustrated with his own caution. Not knowing what to do he retired to his bed only to toss and turn, wishing he could lie with the captain instead of being alone.
Little did he know the captain; who still in his office couldn't concentrate on his work, he was too busy thinking about his lieutenant. the way his hazelnut eyes lit up in conversation. He loved having to look up to his luitenant often stumbling over his own words from the feelings he so wished to share, and, yes good lord his cheekbones.
Only Separated by the unknown fear and wondering, not wanting to overstep that mark between friendliness and romance. Fearing that the other may not feel the same.
They Longed for each other in silence, Every now and then flirting so Cautiously That the other would think about it for hours trying to decipher it's meaning to only Dismiss it as a mere compliment
And this Is how they stayed for months stepping around Obviously as if a small creek on the floorboard might Send their secret spilling out for every man to know.
It was 3 months later That Havers finally decided to knock on the captain's door. Finally brave enough to risk sacrificing his life for the man sat behind an organised desk. Attempting to hide his feelings behind a greying moustache.
Raising his hand to knock-
"SIR"
"Havers Sir"
"Yes Jones" exasperated he ran his hands Through his hair.
" sorry to interupt sir,"
"Get on with it Jones. -regretting his sharpness - sorry do go on Jones."
As Jones explained they walked away from the Captain's office and away from the man havers secretly loved.
