- a peek and a note-

He still had my jacket in his bare hand, the gloved hand holding the ball of light. Seeing me not move, he must have thought I needed comfort and took advantage. Touched me. Taking off the other glove, he cupped the side of my head, warm dry fingers smoothing the fly away wisps of my hair down over my jaw until his thumb brushed over my lips. His damn constant touching. Unwanted, unwelcome, his magic thinned the my walls, turning my iron will into tissue paper.

My magic responded immediately, twice as bright as before, exploding in the room with a silent prism of sparks. I saw the reflection in his eyes, his touch summoning rainbows of color. I felt my hair move, raise in a halo of color. Locks curled around Calix's wrists, touching him back without my permission. Welcoming him.

My knees wobbled, body trembling, physically weakened by the surge of energy bolting free out of my hold. Weirdly split between the magic and physical form, my body felt like a vessel, a jar with a broken seal. Leaking fumes of Indiagion power.

Not a fool. I knew my hold on my nature wasn't infallible. I'd taken steps. Planned and plotted until the thing inside gave up. My tincture. My clothing. My stink. The walls of this apartment, it was all my defense against this moment and this inferable male was taking it all away from me. I'm not a witch. Not a witch. I wanted to tell him that but couldn't.

We heard yells through the thin walls of the building as magic powered null-made machines turned on and went dead. Something in a lower room powered on and exploded. The earsplitting bang and pop of it shook the building.

Gage shouted ugly profanities from the hallway.

Calix touching me. Shade howling in my head.

"Calix, you gotta-" Gage started.

"Breathe," Calix commanded through the collar.

I choked on nothing, the command forced on me by the illium chain and his magic, while inside of me the space between the ice cracks grew wider. My skin lit up from inside instead of a shine on the outside, luminescent, showing off all the fine lines of my veins.

"Fuck, what have you done to yourself?"

Calix growled, head lowering, back bending as he leaned down. The menacing sound sliced through the storm of sparking witch power straight to my pelvis, pulling on muscles I didn't know I had. Mage growl.

Hands cradling my face holding me steady, he kissed me, still growling, and forced heat past my teeth, down my throat, into my core where it settled into hot burn.

This. This. This. The magic told me he'd make it better. That this was right.

My soul screamed in horror. It hurt. It was foreign. Unwanted. Clenching between my legs, and spilling something wet down my thighs. Witch slick.

He kissed me. Lips soft, warm, firm, pressed against mine. Kissed me, growling and drinking the magic off flow straight from my lips.

Sensation overwhelmed. Windstorm sounds crashed in my ears, the kind of wind that brought down deep rooted, two-hundred-foot trees. The kind of wind that lifted homes and tossed them about like toys. A storm that broke open things better left shut up and forgotten.

A hot, intimate invasion of his mouth. My full-bodied electrified response to his touch on my skin, his command, his presence, his mage allure. All of it combined into an onslaught of stimulation I couldn't control.

Too much. Too much.

My body jerking, everything went black.

Hey you wonderful readers.

So for a recap, this is from Caught- Balancing Magic. In the 3rd revisit to this story, this is now Chapter 16 about 41812 words into the story.

I've added a lot of words and I really hope you don't hate them. In another version of this story, this scene takes place in chapter 6.  All and all, I haven't really changed that much. The story always had some timeline issues, and I've been working to smoothe those out. Readers are also getting an antagonist chapter, and I've given Calix earlier chapters that had once been in Anika's point of view.  The same things happen, but I've been able to add details to the world that I didn't have before, and would have ended up heavy loaded into the back end.

I think it's coming along better than before.

Remember I said I might publish under another name? I still haven't decided. But I might. Don't worry, I'll let you know.

You will be able to read this scene on Inkitt or my Ream, as it's not particuallrly spicy to me. Cheers guys.

Thanks for your support.
