"Miss Ava please be seated, you're already late!" My chemistry teacher Ms Lauren commented. I turned around to face her. "Oh sorry something happened earlier on-" but before I could complete my sentence, she cut me off. "I don't have all day. Just sit" she replied, rolling her eyes. I turned back around and made my way to my seat. Once I made it to my seat after an eternity of limping, Aaron got up from his seat. "Here, let me," he said as he pulled out my chair for me. I glanced up at him with a small smile. "Thanks, Aaron..." I replied before slowly sitting down. I quickly grabbed my chemistry textbooks from my bag and placed them on the table. "By the way, what are you doing here? I thought Maddie sat here since she's my lab partner?" I asked in confusion with furrowed eyebrows. The last time I remembered, Aaron used to sit all the way at the back. He stared at me intensely before clearing his throat. "Well as you know I'm on the school's Lacrosse team. My coach Mr Warner warned me that he'll remove me from the team if I constantly failed all my classes. So I requested to be seated next to the biggest nerd in class. You." he replied with a chuckle. "Gosh, how lucky am I?" I replied in a sarcastic tone, rolling my eyes playfully. "I know right?" he replied with a smirk. 

"Are you two done?" a voice called out. I quickly turned to see Ms Lauren standing in front of us. She stood with her arms crossed, with an eyebrow raised. "I'd appreciate it if you two could take your experimental techniques paper out and get ready for class," she said with a stern voice. I quickly nodded my head and started digging my bag for the paper. Ms Lauren walked back to the board and scribbled down some chemical equations. "Shit..." I hissed to myself. Aaron turned to look at me. "You okay?" he asked, analyzing my face. "I left my experimental technique paper at home..." I replied, breaking into sweat. Aaron immediately placed his paper on my desk and raised his hand up. "What are you doing-" I asked in confusion, staring at him. "Ms Lauren I think I threw my paper away by mistake," he said with no hesitation. "Haha funny. You know what's funnier? You being sent out of the classroom" Ms Lauren replied with a fake smile. The whole class giggled. Aaron got out of his seat and walked out of the classroom. Did he just sacrifice himself to save my ass? I felt bad for being the cause of him being sent out. But then again, why did he do that? I was trying to think of answers.

Just then, I received a text. I glanced at my phone and saw messages from Lina. Oh, I was so going to strangle her...

Lina: AVA

Lina: DON'T IGNORE ME!!

Ava: LINA I AM GOING TO KILL YOU.

Lina: NOOOO hear me out...Chase dumped me okay. I followed him thinking he was genuinely interested in me. He just wanted to get laid...

Ava: Lina...forget about him. You deserve way better. Don't worry you'll find someone better...

Lina: Thanks, babe... Can we meet for lunch later?

Ava: NO

Lina: WHY

Ava: I'm staying behind in class to finish up my chemistry work...

Lina: Fine then

Gosh, I just lied to Lina AGAIN. I felt bad about keeping secrets from my own best friend. But then, I wasn't sure what Mr Reeves and I were. Was I just his student? Was he just my teacher? I didn't want to overthink and spread misleading information to Lina. What if all this was just him being a nice teacher? What if I was just overthinking? The chemistry lesson was way more boring today. I just couldn't wait for the lesson to end so that I could see Mr Reeves again. I spent the rest of the hour staring at the clock; waiting for the bell to ring.

"RINGGGG" the bell rang, causing me to jump out of my seat to immediately pack my bag. I shoved my chemistry textbook into my bag and sprinted out of the classroom with my limping leg. My heart was racing. I had been looking forward to having lunch with him since last night. I couldn't even sleep properly. I looked around the school hallway to see if Mr Reeves could be spotted. Just then, I received a text from Mr Reeves.

Mr Reeves: Ava meet me in the history classroom.

Ava: Okay Mr Reeves:)

I immediately sprinted to the history classroom. Once I reached the entrance, I took a deep breath and fixed my hair to make sure it wasn't out of place. Once I felt ready, I knocked twice on the door. "Come in" Mr Reeves replied to my knock. I slowly stepped into the classroom and walked toward him. Mr Reeves immediately got up from his seat and cleared away the paperwork on his desk. He flashed me a smile and signaled me to sit on the chair in front of his desk. I flashed back a smile. He pulled out the chair for me. "Thank you Mr Reeves," I said with a shy smile. I slowly took a seat and kept my bag on the floor.
