Three months later
Aaliyah (Rin)

It's been three months since I got here, and three months since they sent out a search party for Zayus.

During that time, me and the royal family got really close. The twins and me, best friends. The king and queen, basically my parent figures. They allowed me to either call them mother and father, or by their first names, whichever I wanted, which I found quite amazing, seeing as nobody else was allowed to do so.

During the time I had been here I had sent letters to my mother, telling her that I was staying at a place and was fine. I was thinking about going to get her but I wasn't sure if she was ready for this.

I was currently in the back of the palace in the gardens sitting down. I decided to practice my powers. I made an azalea float into my hand, ripping it out of the ground in the process. I smiled, feeling accomplished as I put it down, my powers knitting it back together so it could continue to grow.

When I first got here it took me around two minutes to get a flower to float. Now, it barely took a second.

Around two months ago, I had gotten a trainer, the goddess named Khalida. She had taught me how to harness my powers and how to fly. Apparently, my species' wings were bigger than the normal gods and goddesses which made me faster, and they were also black instead of white. We had learned quickly that my species was also way more powerful than theirs, as the queen had predicted.

"Rin!" Nyx's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

A while ago we had dropped my faked name, Aaliyah, and started to use my real name that we had hear my mother call me. Rin.

"Hello Nyx. What's wrong?" I asked as I saw her flying fast with her graceful white wings.

"They're back." She said as she finally stopped, hovering a few feet above me as I got up.

"Who?"

"The patrol." She said excitedly.

My eyes widened as my wings appeared and I flew to meet her.

I studied her before saying, "You swear your not teasing?"

She frowned. "Why would I be teasing? I know how excited you are about this, Rin."

Well, I'm kind of used to people getting my hopes up, so. I thought to myself after putting up my mental wall. That was another thing Khalida had taught me and the twins, how to block our thoughts from other mind readers. Now, we could only read each others thoughts if the other took down their wall.

"I don't know." I said, "Cmon let's go, quick."

As we flew I stayed beside Nyx, matching my speed to hers. I felt slow.

I heard Nyx sigh before she said, "Again, I know how excited you are about this. You can go ahead of me." She smiled.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yes, go on."

Just like that I was already a mile ahead of her. Not actually, I was really only traveling around seven feet more than her per second, steadily getting faster.

See, the palace was actually surprisingly huge, and so it took at least eight minutes to get from the back, where the garden was, to the front. If you were going as fast as the normal god. For me, it took two minutes, roughly.

I hope they bring back good news.

~~~~~~~
Once I arrived I nearly crashed because of how fast I was going.
"Rin!" I heard Obsidian yell.
"Im good, I didn't fall." I said, dusting myself off. "Where are they?"
He led me to the throne room where I saw the general, Typhoon, bowing in front of the king and queen.
"Ah, Rin, there you are. Good morning" Izinami said.
"Good morning Iz, Aizen." I responded, "Is there any news?" I said hopefully as I walked up beside Typhoon.
Izinami stood and gestured to me, telling me to follow her.
She led me to the med wing.
Lui, Kit, Pax, Lo, and Sid were spread out on beds, gashes and bruises littering their bodies.
"What happened?" I asked the queen.
"Apparently, once they neared the middle of Ivy Forest, where Zayus usually spends his time, they were attacked by what they said looked like Zero Warriors from Pyrus."
Pyrus was Zayus' brother who ruled over the Zero Warriors, who were basically superhumans.
"Do you really think so?" I asked as we exited the med bay. "The Zero Warriors aren't stronger than us. They can't even compare to us."
"I know, but that's what they saw, and I believe my people." She said.
I nodded. As we walked our separate ways.
~~~~~~~

I went to my room afterwards, still trying to process everything as I lay on my bed, my arm laying on my forehead as I closed my eyes.

We weren't any closer to saving Zayus. Land or dragon.

Although I have never met the dragons, I still have a connection to them that makes me feel like I have known them my whole life, so it with Zayus' situation, it made me feel like my best friend was dying and there was nothing I could do about it.

Knock knock

"Rin? Can I come in?" I heard Nyx say.

"Come in." I responded.

I heard her walk in and close the door as she walked and sat next to me on my bed.

"I heard what happened, are you okay?"

I sighed. "Do you want the truth, or the short version."

"You already know the answer to that, Ri." She lay down next to me, propping herself up on her elbow.

I groan. "We might as well have taken a step back Nyx. Three months, wasted. No new information about Zayus. She is dying or something and we can't do anything about it."

She was silent for a moment before saying, "I know, trust me. I'm angry too. Our land is dying. I have lived here all my life, and unless we save her, it will be gone. Like it never existed. So trust me, I get it."

I sighed once more as we heard another knock on the door and said, "Come in." As I sat up.

Aizen stood in the doorway when I opened my eyes, looking furious.

"Whoa,what's wrong?" I asked.

"It wasn't the Zero Warriors." He said. He turned to Nyx, "It was The Black."

I looked at Nyx and saw her face drain if color.

"It wasn't the Zero Warriors?" I said.

"No. And that's why Zayus is so sick. They poisoned her."
