IF YOU TOLD ALEXIS HUNTER two weeks ago that she'd leave her family in New York to live on her apartment in Virginia and meet the Behavior Analysis Unit chief of the FBI for a spot on the team, she'd laugh.

She'd actually guffaw in your face.

But now, living in Quantico for a week in her tiny two-bedroom apartment and standing on the elevator heading to the chief's office, she was nervous. The building looked intimidating by itself and for a second the question 'will be there a time this won't be as intimidating as right now?' crossed her mind.

Lexie watched as the tie-wearing men around her left the elevator, leaving her alone. She took a deep breath and started to walk with her head high, heading towards her future job.

As soon as she stepped a foot inside the unit, some of the busy (and rather tired) eyes turned in her direction and not-so-low mumbles took over the room.

Not that she didn't expect this sort of welcome. She was a twenty-three-year-old woman joining the FBI after graduating high school at fourteen and graduating at college in the age of eighteen. She already knew she was going to be a topic of gossip for a week, and honestly, she was okay with it.

Getting into college at fifteen with a bunch of mean girls that definetly should've satyed in high school has taught her to not care too much about people's opinions of her.

But right now, all the curious gazes in her direction are making Alexis a little bit anxious.

Ok, very anxious.

'Just look ahead, don't trip, and don't make a fool of yourself in front of all these agents.' Alexis repeated the words in her head the whole way until she stopped in front of Agent Hotchner's office.

Before she knocked on the door, the woman subtly turned her head to look at the people next to the bullpens. Some of them immediately turned their head back to their papers and some went back to gossiping — probably about her presence in the unit.

But a specific group kept their attention on her. Two men — the muscular one smirked at her and the other one quickly and shyly broke eye contact — and two women — one of the blondes adjusted her glasses before smiling excitedly at the new agent as the other sentt Alexis a small grin.
