Chapter One

Joshua Davis wasn't totally sure that his plan to run away would work.

He'd been scheming for weeks- probably months. He'd planned it to perfection, yet he still wasn't sure. Maybe it was too extreme a plan; not the best solution.  Sure, his family was freaked out about his new abilities that he couldn't fully control yet, but at least they still loved him, and promised to make it work as best they could! Still, Josh didn't want to put any of them in danger, or accidentally hurt them. He loved them all too much, and wouldn't be able to forgive himself if they got hurt because he had no control over himself. His powers were just too strong, and he refused to use them again until he figured out how to control them.

His hands were shaking almost uncontrollably as he slipped his backpack over his shoulder and quietly opened the window in his room.  Inside his (waterproof) backpack was a change of clothes, an extra coat, another pair of shoes, a fleece blacket, three flashlights, $400, and enough food and energy bars to last him the next two weeks.

He lifted the window open and paused, listening to hear if anyone was aware of what he was doing, and was moving to stop him.  Everything seemed quiet.  So he carefully lifted his legs out of the window, hanging onto the windowsill with only his hands.  He glanced back to his bed where he had weighed down a hand-written noted with a rock, saying,

Mom, Dad, and Jamie-

I know you guys said we could make it work, and that you all still love me, but I'm not sure that I can make it work.  I don't want to put any of you at risk, or hurt you in any way, so I'm leaving.  Running away. I'll be fine.  I heard of a place that can help people like me.  I'll be safe there.  I'll learn how to control my powers, and I won't be a threat to your safety ever again.  I'll come back someday, when I'm ready.

I love you all,

-Josh

Satisfied, Josh thrust his legs out the window, letting go of his grip on the window.  He fell from his second-story window down onto the grass below.  When his feet hit the group he bounced and did a somersault, landing smoothly, standing on his feet like the ninja he was.  As he walked, he remembered why he loved his second-degree blackbelt.

He walked for about 10 miles to the train station that would take him from his former home in Atlanta, Georgia to the place he'd heard about in Westchester County, New York.

It wasn't until he'd settled into his seat and the train had started moving that he allowed himself to wonder if his family would even miss him.

Hello, lovies!

So, I'm trying to get more reads on all my stuff,  and I was told to write a fanfic to accomplish that, and I refused to write a 1D fanfic, because that's what everyone else is doing, so this is what I came up with. The title is a work in progress. :) I'm a HUGE X-Men fan, and thought that it was very fitting. Please vote and let me know in the comments what you think! I would like to know how I can improve this. :)

Thank you!
