I could barely breath. I had learned in approximatively 15 minutes that there was a secret organisation killing hundreds, hell, thousands of people, that basically my whole family died, and that I am a superhuman. The first thing that came to my mind was the urge to activate that dreaded drug. It is my only chance to escape.
I looked back onto the screen and clicked on this Project Virtutum, and I immediately saw so many files, it made the computer lag. Hundreds of files. The first one was soberly named 'project virtutum.txt', almost like if god itself wanted me to know everything about how I will die. I saw some things that were similar on what explaining in my case file, but one part seemed to be useful for me; 'The drug has been observed being activated using a epinephro-benzine solution. This substance is extremely toxic and should only be used on test subjects. It is theorized that humans naturally producing Virtutum could potentially be immunised to epinephro-benzinate, but the experiment will be tested at 16h00, on April 1th, after we managed to draw enough blood from the golden subject to make tests viable until at least 2014'.
Now I know why they couldn't let me go. Now I know how to activate the drug. Now I know when they will test on me. Wait, that is today..? I look at the clock, and almost fall on my knees when I see the time;
15:24.
In 36 minutes, they will test on me. What will they do ? Will they look for me..? Well, of course they will, I'm literally their most precious 'subject'.
15:25.
I had only a few minutes to find a way to escape, or at least to hide. Blood was rushing through my brain, hoping to find a solution to this nightmare. Well I'll be damned, I think I found a way. I looked into the drawers of the desk I was sitting at, and found a doctor uniform, along with the badge. When I think about it, it feels surreal to be this lucky in that circumstance. Almost like if someone was writing what was happening to me in real time, and really wanted me to get away from here alive.
15:31.
I had put the jacket along with the nametag, somewhat in a hurry. Now, my name is Dr. Shinai. I looked fairly old for my age, as most people would put me in the 18-24 years old category. I had no reason to fear being discovered now. Anyway, I will probably die anyway, so what does it cost to try ?
15:40. The loudest alarm I've ever had the displeasure to hear went off. They knew I had escaped. I could hear people shouting at eachother, people running by the door near to the place I was once chained in. I knew what I had to do with all of that newly aquired knowledge and this equipment.
15:44. I left the room and saw someone running toward me. I was about to pass out, thinking my ruse didn't even last 3 seconds, but I saw her looking into every single room in a deeply agitated manerism. She was looking for me.
And now,, I'll be looking for me too.
