"as much as i love this," brig spoke softly into hana's ear, "when is your game today? you said you needed a cheerleader."
closing her eyes, hana stretched her slender frame before turning on her side to face the engineer.
when she opened them, brig noticed a devious glint. "about that- i don't actually have a game today. i just needed an excuse to see you."
"oh?" she laughed.
"and- to tell you something."
oh god.
brig's heart started racing. what was it? was hana moving? was something wrong? an anxious look must've clouded her gaze, because hana took one of brig's hands and placed it palm down on her own face.
"no- nothings wrong-. i just wanted to say that- i really enjoy hanging out with you. and-" she swallowed, "i've started to catch feelings-."
"for who?" brig's voice caught in her throat, coming out hoarsely.
"y'know-"
looking down, the usual dva swagger had melted off her frame. now she was just a vulnerable girl, putting herself out on the line, waiting to be turned down. her innate desire to love and be loved would be her downfall. her hand fell from brig's, and she expected the woman to pull her hand back from hana's face. she shouldn't have said anything.
but, it stayed.
"hana-"
looking up, their eyes met.
"can i kiss you?" brig asked.
"please." was her answer, her eyes watering.
cupping hana's face gently, brig leaned in. when their lips met, hana tasted of pink lemonade. of summer. of promises. of a future.
