Haerin

Chaotic. If there is a word that could perfectly describe your life at the present moment, that would be chaos. It's been two weeks since the incident inside the council executive room happened. And Danielle has become a bit different ever since. It seems like the girl was being more overprotective of you. She accompanies you most of the time, despite her busy schedule, which is something that Danielle rarely does. Her texts became more frequent, too. Danielle didn't seem to care that you didn't reply to her. She keeps doing it anyway. And you are becoming annoyed with it. The treatment makes you feel like a child who can't take care of herself. Not even your father checks on you as much as Danielle has been doing.

And Hyein. You hadn't heard from the freshman after she borrowed another book from you. Again. What's with hyein and her habit of borrowing books without full permission? There are no messages from her as well. Am I waiting? That's a question that you didn't even realize you kept asking yourself during the past few weeks. You're not quite sure when it started. Your thoughts are getting more and more haywire lately.

"Stop fucking sighing for God's sake, Haerin." Hani's irritated voice rang through your ears. You forgot you two were supposed to complete your research papers today.

You stopped typing on your laptop and looked at the smaller girl. Hani had her brows arched, completely distracted by my antics that I'm not aware that you're doing since the thought of a certain freshman with obsidian eyes landed in your mind.

"I'm sorry." You forced yourself to stop sighing.

"Is there anything that bothers you? Or we can move to another place to continue this." the vice president was concerned enough to suggest.

"No, I'm just tired, I guess." You kept your nonchalant tone. And prayed that your demeanor would not give anything away.

"Maybe we should take some rest. We'll continue after 15 minutes." Hani replied. Your eyes focused on her when she stood up and walked up to the barista to order your coffee. Iced Americano for Hani and a Doppio for you The two of you are studying at one of the cafes inside the university. There aren't many people here since most of the students are in their respective classes during this hour. However, your focus wasn't at its best. Something unusual for someone who can work for hours without minding other things that dare to cloud her mind.

Hani went back to your table, holding two coffees in her hand. She handed the Doppio to you, and you absentmindedly grabbed it from her. As you took a sip and roamed your eyes around the cafe for the second time, you heard a chime, signaling that someone had entered the cafe. You didn't need to look twice to recognize the stance of the girl who has been annoying you for weeks now. Danielle. Hani noticed her right away.

"Hey, Dani! Here!" Hani greeted the treasurer and saved a seat for her at their table. Danielle hummed a simple "hi" and settled across from you. Her eyes spoke gentleness as she glanced at you. She looked happy today, and you're not.

"What are you two doing?" Danielle spoke once she settled her things on the table, pulling out her laptop and resting it on the available space. You started typing on your laptop, clearly ignoring the girl. Hani sensed your lack of interest in talking, so she answered instead.

"Research. Deadline's today."

"I'm surprised to see you in a cafe, Dani. You don't drink coffee." Hani added. You scoffed at that, and both girls looked at you with confusion.

"Don't mind me." You said. You looked at them and nodded. And continue typing random nothings in your document file again. You concluded that you would continue this later, when you're alone.

"Haerin was certainly snarky today." Hani made a statement.

"Only today?" Danielle jested back.

Both of them chuckled as if you were not there with them. How in the bloody hell did she become close with Hani when they were kids anyway? Did she hit her head on a rock that caused it to split open and change her preferences towards people?
