The First Summer

Chapter 2

[ Kaye's POV ]

I woke up this morning feeling great. It was summer, I slept in, it was going to be a beautiful day, no one was home... wait... never mind, all the boys were here. Ugh.

I looked over to Hayes' bed and sure enough, he was still sleeping.
An idea came into my head as I got up out of my bed.

I walked over to my closest, and dug around for a minute until I found my air horn that Cameron gave me last year. I smirked with satisfaction and walked quietly over to Hayes' bed. I set the air horn down and walked into my bathroom to get shaving cream.

When I came back out I took a "before picture" of Hayes. I put my hand that was filled with shaving cream over his face, and with my over hand I grabbed the air horn and pushed down on the button.

"AHHH", Hayes screamed as he sat up into the shaving cream. "Whattt?" he asked trying to get the shaving cream off of his face. I was rolling around on the floor laughing, trying not to pee, when Hayes finally woke up enough to realize what had happened. He started crying, stood up, and ran into the bathroom.

I was in shock that he was crying. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. I stood up, and when I was about to open the door, the door flew open and Hayes was there with two handfuls of shaving cream. I screamed and flew out of the room, down the stairs and out the door, still in my pajamas. I ran into the backyard, but Hayes was right behind me. He cornered me over by the pool. I either got hit or jumped. He swung his right arm to slap me, but I easily caught it, and pulled him into the pool with me. When he came up he still slapped me anyways. I screamed, and he backed away with his hand in the air. I smirked and got out of the pool.

I sat down and he came and sat by me. I was trying to untangle my hair and he sat there laughing at me. "Stoppp", I fake cried. All of a sudden he stopped. "Do you hear that?" he asked. "No what?" I said. He got a big smile on his face. He ran into the house and a minute later he came back out with a 10 dollar bill. He grabbed my hand and dragged me through the front yard and down the road a bit. "Hayes where are we going?" I asked laughing a bit. "You'll see" All of a sudden I could hear it. The one sound from your childhood you could never forget. The ice cream truck. "YAY! ICE CREAM!", I shouted. Hayes laughed and stopped dragging me. I was hopping up and down with excitement. "what are you going to get?", he asked. "A snow cone!!" I shouted. "Me too" he added. I smiled as the Ice cream truck stopped in front of us and a young woman appeared. "What can I get for ya'll?" she said in a southern accent. "Two snow cones please" Hayes said.

After Hayes paid and we got our snow cones, We walked down to the beach at the lake and sat down in the sand to eat. "We're having snow cones for breakfast" I laughed. He laughed a bit and we finished our snow cones.
After we walked back home, still in our pajamas that were dry now because we ran all this way. Our moms yelled at us for just leaving without telling them where we are going and so on. We just laughed and stared getting ready for the day.

After I got out of the shower Hayes got in. I blow dried my hair and curled it into loose curls. I put on some concealer, mascara and a little nude lip stick. I stuck my diamond earrings into my ears, walked out of the bathroom and into the closet. I put on a bra and underwear, and picked out a floral cropped tank top,light washed high waisted jeans, a gold necklace with a matching bracelet, and long sleeve, sweater. To top it off I put on some white high top converse. I heard the shower turn off and figured I should give Hayes some space. So I walked downstairs and decided to make some Mac n cheese for lunch. I was almost done when Hayes walked downstairs in dark blue jeans, and a gray t-shirt with a design on it. Honestly he looked hot. But no just kidding. When he saw I was making Mac n cheese he screamed "yes! this is my most fav food ever BFF!" and wrapped his arms around my torso while I laughed and continued cooking. Cameron walked into the kitchen and yelled "Hey everyone! Kaye is making lunch for us." "Cameron" she yelled as she attacked him. Everyone came flying into the kitchen to give Kaye their orders.

[ Hayes' POV ]

After lunch which took until 2:30 to cook everyone's food and then eat, and then clean up, we all went to the park to hang out.
"Catch!" Cameron yelled as he threw a frisbee into the air. We all watched as it flew across the field into Matthews stomach. He crumpled to the ground in pain. He started fake crying. "Ahh. I see the light. Goodbye world." he cried. We all ran over to him laughing and Nash helped him up. "Oh my god. You should have seen your face", Kaye cried as she fell to her knees in laughter. "Oh yeah. Was it really that funny?" Matthew said sarcastically. "Yup" she said with a strait face. Just then Matthew tackled her on the ground. She screamed in happiness and tried to get him off of her. "No stop! Matthew no! Ahhh. Get off". "Make me". I have to admit I was a little jealous, I wanted to hang out with Kaye right now. I was about to get Matthew to stop when all of a sudden... "ahhhhhh." Matthew screamed as he laid on the ground holding his stomach. "That's what you get" said Kaye proudly. He winked at her and she kicked him again. "Never again Espinosa" she laughed. She turned around and smiled at me. She grabbed my arm and pulled me away toward the swings.

"You handled that well" I told her. "Thanks, but the same thing will happen to you if you ever do that. I hate being tickled." she replied. See, this is the part where I'm suppose to be all flirty and try to tickle her but, I didn't want to be kicked like she kicked Matthew. In fact I think he's still laying over there. "you're impressed?" she asked. "A little." I laughed. But to be honest, I was super impressed. "See that tree over there?" She asked while pointing to a huge tree with roots that went everywhere. "woah, yeah" I said. "That's my favorite tree." she said. "It's beautiful". "Yeah it is".

"Where's my shirt!" Kaye screamed as she walked into the room. We were going out to dinner and Kaye was getting her shit together. It took her like two hours in the bathroom. I was already done and ready to go. So I was laying on my bed, playing on my phone.

Twenty minutes later, Kaye walked out of the bathroom ready to go. "Finally I said" and stood up. "Whatever" she mumbled and walked out of the door. Downstairs the parents and everyone else were ready to go in the car. "Hurry up", Carter yelled. "Shut up" Kaye yelled back. We got into the car and started driving. I wonder if we can eat one meal all together without starting some sort of drama.
