THIRD'S POV

"Are you guys excited about
the Secret Santa thing?" Abby sat on Tae's side of the table with minimal space between them.

Jungkook noted the shy
looks she cast his friend.

Looks that were met by
equally shy glances from Tae.

He'd never known Tae to
be shy but then, this was the first time he'd seen Tae
truly interested in a girl.

He'd liked other girls before
but this seemed different.

Jungkook reserved judgment about the girl.

He wasn't ready to lower his guard and trust her just yet.

"Not really." Tae admitted.

"Not at all." He mumbled.

Abby frowned.

"How come?"

"It sounds fun, I love buying
gifts for others, even if I
don't know them."

"You're one of the elites,
so I see how it would be
fun for you."

"We're not exactly popular."

Tae smiled. "In case you
haven't noticed."

"No one is going to want
to get us gifts or get gifts
from us."

Abby shook her head.

"I don't get this, In my old school, you guys would be
the elites."

"They loved gay kids."

"It was a very inclusive, accepting school."

Jungkook wondered if she
was telling the truth.

She seemed sincere and
for Tae's sake, he hoped
she was.

"Must've been a social
shock transferring from
that school to this one."

"Kind of, yeah."

"I'm not used to so much..."

She chewed her lower lip.

"Bigotry?" Jungkook finished
for her.

She nodded. "So, are you
guys just not going to do
the Secret Santa thing?"

"We have to." Tae said.

"It's a senior tradition."

"When do we choose
names?"

"Tomorrow morning, in
home room." Tae told her.

"Maybe I'll get one of you
guys." She smiled.

"That would be cool."

Jungkook didn't want anyone
to draw his name but there
was no getting out of it.

Tae flashed a half-grin at
Abby.

"If you drew my name,
what would you get me?"

He was beginning to relax
and gradually returning to
his old self.

"I, uh..." She laughed softly.

"I don't know."

"What would you want?"

A date with you.

He saw it clear as day on
his face.

Did Abby see it, too?

Tae didn't have the chance
to answer before Lee and
her best friend and fellow cheerleader, Tonya,
approached their table.

Abby's bright mood doused immediately and she averted
her eyes from Lee's haughty stare.
