My heart was beating one hundred miles per hour. I didn't know what to do, where to look, or what to say.
The bar was boiling hot when I stepped back in. The heat was slapping me in the face, I was sweaty, scared and shaking. I needed fresh air, but it would just suffocate me. I was so confused, but stepped out anyways. Fresh air striked my face like a tsunami, making me inhale and exhale heavily.
He's crazy, he's insane, I am not going to come with that stranger! I thought.
Outside was depressing, there were no stoplights, no electricity in general thanks to the riots. There were no traffic, the roads were split and damaged, people running back and forth, worried, like ants when their anthills are crushed.
Unexpectedly, something tapped my shoulder. I instantly turned around, mouth opened to curse at them. I stumbled back in surprise when I saw him.
It was him. The guy who called himself Justice.
"You need to come with me, if you want to be safe," he said. I still could not see his features, it was hidden in the darkness.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked. "Where are you taking me?"
"Do you always ask this many questions?" He sighed. His voice was low and smooth, like a young mans.
"Do you always stop a bullet with your bare hands?" I shot back at him.
"What is you name?" He asked.
I was so surprised at the unexpected question that I answered, "Uh...Skyler Gray?"
"Well, that's bad," he murmured.
I stumbled back even more. "What do you mean-" I stopped. Asking questions will get me nowhere, I can see that. I shook my head, turning around. "Never mind, just leave me alone."
"I think you would love to know that your father is part of this," he said with a slight hesitation in his voice.
I stopped walking, turning around and slowly walking back.
"How....do I know your telling the truth? Why should I trust you? For all I know, you might be a mugger or something," I said accusingly.
He took several steps forward. "You're right, you shouldn't trust me....but what you saw in the alley....we have to make sure you're not a threat."
"What? What about my dad?" I asked impatiently.
He looked sideways, then back to me and said, "First you'll have to come with me."
"Where?" I asked curiously.
"To safety," J replied simply.
I was so confused, my brain couldn't take the conversation.
"Um, ok, if I believe what you're saying," I said, pulling at my hair, "Where this....safety is, you're not going to kidnap me or something like that, right?" I wanted to make sure.
He smirked and shook his head.
"So, no, you're not going to kidnap me," I said again, making myself clear.
He gave me a grin and said, "Of course not!"
Suddenly I heard a big BOOM! An explosion, blasted at the corner of the street. Black fire was clouding the area, making everyone around choke on dust.
Everyone started sprinting their ass-off, running for their lives.
I panicked. I didn't know where to go, luckily J grabbed my hand and we both ran, sprinting like there was no tomorrow. Maybe there wasn't, who knew?
I looked at him and asked "What's going on? Where are we going?"
"That's what I was saying, SAFETY!" He yelled, trying to be heard over the screaming. I bit my bottom lip, feeling as if everything was my fault.
We turned a corner next to a tall building that was half broken. He took out something from his pocket and threw it at the top of the building.
"Hold on," he said.
I gasped in surprise and clung to him when I felt us going up high.
The thing was bringing us to the top of the building.
I looked down, everything looking microscopic. We were already so high up, and I felt dizzy.
When we got there, I quickly let go of him, landing on my knees. I started coughing, my throat dry from the run. I was never that athletic.
J stared at the evening sky. It was really beautiful, you could actually see the stars peeking out in the growing darkness. I stood up and took a look around, and wow.....it looked so beautiful.
The busted city didn't look so bad from a far distance. You could actually see lights, well, a few lights.
I decided to sit at the edge of the building.
The night was chilly, and I tried not to shiver. J offered me his black jacket, I took it and placed it around me. It really was cold.
"Be careful, don't want you to fall," he said, but he didn't seem worried.
"I won't," I said, looking back at him.
He sat next to me gave me a glance. He grinned at me, his white teeth flashing in the darkness.
"You'll have no trouble fitting in," he said.
I looked at him curiously, about to ask what that meant when he suddenly smirked. Caught surprised at him, I only stared stupidly at him when he pulled back his arms and pushed me off the building.
My only thought as I was spiraling down the darkening sky was, Fucking mysterious boys!
