(Ringtone)...Jerking awake by my loud ringtone I yawn loudly and unladylike not opening my eyes.

Feeling my hand over my dresser I grab my phone and swipe to answer still with my eyes closed and press the annoying device to my ear....which was a bad idea.

"What the fuck Amber Lopez!!," Sophie's loud voice booms into my ear.

Wincing and moving the phone from my ear to avoid further damage to my ear drum, I climb out of bed and place the call on speaker.

"Lopez get your fat ass down here in fifteen minutes or I'm coming up there to drag you down", she says in her English accent before I hear the line go dead.

Checking the time I realize its 11 am. "shit!" I cuss and rush into the bathroom.

I totally forgot Sophie and I were supposed to go shopping.

The mall was a bit far from where we lived so we had planned to leave early to avoid traffic.

School was resuming on Monday and Sophie had suggested we go shopping first, can't blame her for wanting new outfits we're going to be in our final year after all.

After my business in the bathroom I put on light make up and picked out a cute outfit .

Grabbing my black purse I rush down the stairs.

"Hey mom," I greet and give her a peck on the cheek.

"Hey baby, you going out?," she asks handing me a toast.

"Yeah I'm going shopping with Sophie". My mom frowns when I mention Sophie's name.

"Honey you know I don't like you hanging out with that girl".

"Mom, just because her mom is a drug addict and her dad is a fugitive doesn't mean she's like them. Sure she's a badass...."

"Language Amber", she interrupts me.

Ignoring her I continue, "As I was saying she's nothing like them. And please would you stop judging my friends."

Seriously I've had enough of her and her judgemental self.

"Where's dad," I ask finishing my toast.

She sighed.

She and dad have been having problems lately which I have no idea of.

"He left for work earlier," she replies turning to load the dishes into the dishwasher.

"Did you two fight again?" Mom nods.

Just then I hear impatient honking outside.

"Sorry mom, Sophie's waiting. We'll talk when I get back".

With that I rush out the door.

Sophie was scowling at me from her car.

Dropping myself into her passenger seat I flash a smile.
