I woke up at 7am. I didn't get much sleep because of the case I had been working on for the past couple of days. I got out of bed and did my routine that I do almost every day. I got up, turned on the police scanner, I opened up the blinds; I took my shower and went downstairs for some breakfast. I was so tired that I did not want to make eggs like I usually do. So I decided to make me some cereal. While I was eating my cereal I got a call. I went to grab my phone and when I answered it I knew exactly who it was. It was Angela, she was another cop, she and I didn't hate each other, but we were not friends either. She told me that the chief was furious and wanted me to come in right away.
So I quickly grabbed my car keys, finished my breakfast, and jumped in the car to go to work. On my way to work I passed the usual places. I passed the pizza place, the doughnut shop, the flea market, and all the other stuff. But there was one thing different a new shop had been opened up. It was no more than a couple of weeks old. It was a sandwich shop. I heard they have good meat. I had wanted to go there ever since it opened, but I haven't had the time because of this case.
I walked in to the precinct and it was a mess. We have over worked and under staffed ever since the only other precinct in this town had closed. Right as I get to my desk the chief yells at me to get in here from the window in the door of his office. I walk in. He told me to close the door behind me. His office wasn't that big. It was bland and didn't have much color other than the red coffee cup he got from his dad before he died. He had been the most decorated cop in this precinct. He even had medals from when he fought in Vietnam. He asked me how I have been doing on the case. The case I had been working on is about random murders that have been popping up around town. I told him that I hadn't found much yet but I would keep him informed if I found anything.
While walking out of the chiefs office Angela told me that there was another person murdered no more than an hour ago. As I was walking out of the precinct to get to my car one of the other officers asked me if I wanted to come to the sandwich with them. I unfortunately I had to say no because I had to go the crime scene. As I arrived the police officers that were there were already being hounded by reporters. I always wondered how they learn about this stuff so quickly. I got out of the car and a reporter came up to me and asked if this death was caused by the same person who responsible for the other five deaths. I told him I did not know much because I just got here. But he kept on asking me questions until I got pass the police line. I walked up to the examiner and he told me that this person died just like the rest. Strangulation from what look like a ribbon or something made of the same material. I started to look around for clues. I must have looked for hours before I found something. I found a medal of honor on the ground. When I found the medal it made me think of chiefs Medal of Honor he got serving in the Vietnam War. Then I remembered something his medal was missing from his rack and the necklace part of the medal was always cleaned after a murder would pop up. It was the chief. I did not want it to be him but it was. I emailed him and told him I knew he was the murderer and told him to meet me at the docks. The meeting was set. As I waited my mind had wandered. I started to think about how my life would be affected after this all this. I waited for almost an hour before the chief finally came. He drove up. His tire coming to a screeching halt. He got out of the car and slammed the door behind him. He had walk up to me asking me if I really did find who caused these murders. I told him to stop with the act. He smiled and asked me why I didn't leave this alone. I asked him why he did it. He told me it was fun. I told him that he has gone crazy and he needed to put his gun on the ground and put his hands up. He told me he couldn't do that and pulled his gun out on me. I was able to knock his gun out of his hands but he was also able to knock the gun out of my hand. We fought for five minutes until he was over me with a gun to my face. He said I should have just left it alone. He was about to pull the trigger when I heard another gun fire. Then I had seen the chief hit the ground. I thought who shot him. Then I looked it was Angela. She told me when the chief left his office angry and knew something was up. So she checked the email that I sent him before he left. I am so glad she got here when she did or I would be dead. So I asked her if she wanted to go to the new sandwich shop. Then she said to me that this is the start of a good friendship.
