As I sat on the edge of the bed, the thoughts and the demons came rushing towards me. The feeling of worthlessness flooded my mind, and all I thought about was the night before Anton's death.

Before Anton died, him and I were such good friends that people would ask me if we were dating. My response every time would be, "No, we're just friends. Anton has a girlfriend, and him and I couldn't date. It would be just like dating ourselves." Every person rose an eyebrow and shrugged this response off, which was not at all different for the both of us. One thing no one knew, not even the closest girl friend or boy friend I knew had an undying love for Anton. From his pearly white smile to his straightened black hair, everything about Anton was ideal. He was a true gem, one of those guys who was sensitive but strong, smart but absolutely idiotic, but most important to me, beautiful but destructive.

Anton was known as a heartbreaker, but he always got away with it. I vividly remember when he broke up with this girl in my Math class. Jenna Halanky was her name. She was one of the smartest kids in the grade, had a great personality, and a fortune any human dreamed of. Anton was a gentleman, as he usually was, but something about her seemed off when she was with him. A negative energy surrounded her, and I knew that Anton could feel it.

When Anton texted me at 3:47AM on a Tuesday, I knew that this was important. He said that a bullet that was meant for him had murdered Jenna. He told me about how they were on a date at the top of Mount Harton, which was about 45 minutes outside of the small town of Fayton, the town where we lived. He continued telling me about how a mysterious woman had approached them at the supermarket while they were stocking up on marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers meant for the night's outing. The woman slid him a note at the register, then walked away. Anton, as he usually did when he received a note, ripped it up and threw it in the nearby garbage can. Jenna went to go grab it from the garbage because she felt that it was important. She read the note on the way up the mountain.

The note read:

Anton,

You may not know who I am, and I understand that you don't want to listen to what I have to say, but you're in danger. There is something sketchy about Jenna, there's something you don't know. Please listen to me when I say that when you go to the mountain with her tonight, you should take some sort of self-defense weapon with you. Jenna's dad Martin has sent out a hitman for you. He doesn't think that you can satisfy his daughter's needs, and he feels that the only way to rip you two apart is to kill you. The hitman he has sent is notorious for only carrying one bullet in a revolver. Please, listen to what I say. I know many people who care about you and would hate to see you killed by this hitman. Good luck, and I hope to see you alive and well.

- Y.

Jenna looked up in shock, surprised that her father had such a scheme to get rid of Anton. She knew her father didn't like Anton, but not enough to want to kill him.

"Anton. Let's not go to the mountain tonight. I want you to be safe...." Jenna said as she held the shreds of the note between her fingers.

"Are you crazy, Jenna?! I spent weeks making this date perfect! This date is happening," Anton said as he began to tighten his grip on the steering wheel.

Jenna stopped trying to convince Anton to change his mind, not knowing that that night was going to be the last night she saw anything aside from the view of Fayton, Tumultion, and Harlison.

As Anton parked the car on the edge of the lookout, a rustle was heard in the bushes. Jenna knew it was the hitman, and she decided to kiss Anton one last time. The hitman was very poorly armed, and he only carried one bullet in the revolver. He took his aim and pulled the trigger, hoping he would hit Anton because he had seen him right before he decided to pull the trigger. One thing the hitman didn't know was that Anton had spun Jenna so that their placement was changed. The bullet entered Jenna's skull, going straight through her brain, killing her instantly. Anton was in absolute shock as he held Jenna's dead body in his arms. He knew that his feeling was right, but he never expected it to end this badly. Anton would have done anything to save Jenna, but he knew that the situation was out of his hands.
