Fairy tales aren't real.
I learned that a few years ago.
Every Cinderella's Prince Charming
Is somewhere off harming
That girl just down the road.
She's just another heart to steal.
And if you want a love song,
Then you'll just have to wait your turn.
The singer is writing a ballad,
But all it says is how sad
He was that he had to learn
That true love can sometimes be wrong.
And that best friend you love,
You're just their best friend,
So you can't be anything more.
And even if you try, you'll bore
Them to tears in a day, and it'll end,
Because YOUR love is never enough.
But if you keep your heart out of pain,
And by this I mean don't give it out,
Then you'll be keeping it safe.
You won't have to, mourn or wave,
Or say goodbye. There's no doubt,
You'll be best if you keep it unmaimed.
