As I sat there in silence, contemplating my next move, the car suddenly slowed down and came to a stop. Damien looked up from his phone, his expression unreadable. "We're here," he said simply. I looked out the window to see that we had arrived at a massive building with sleek, modern architecture. This had to be the place where the conference would happen.

I stepped out of the car, trying to act as calm and collected as possible, while my heart pounded in my chest. As we entered the building, I couldn't help but feel intimidated by the grandeur of it all. The marble floors, towering columns, and sleek glass walls screamed money and power.

We walked towards the elevators, and I could feel the glances of the other people in the lobby. They were all impeccably dressed, and I couldn't help but feel out of place in my simple outfit. Damien, on the other hand, looked like he owned the place. Hell, he probably does.

We stepped into the elevator, and Damien's taller body guard pressed the button for the top floor. I couldn't help despite my nerves, to internally chuckled at the fact that important people always have stuff going on on the "top floor" like... if there was a fire the most "important" people would have less chance of survival. My sporadic thoughts halted as the elevator ascended, my nerves began to get the best of me. I had to tell him the truth, no matter how scared I was of his reaction.

"D-Damien," I stuttered, my voice barely above a whisper. "I need to tell you something."

He turned to look at me, his perfect eyebrow raised in surprise. "What is it?" he asked.

"I...I'm not actually a..." My heart sank as I realized that I actually had this mans attention on me. And telling someone so high in power that their meeting might go to waste because I'm useless,  literally SECONDS before it happens is crazy. " I...uh" I continued as my voice trembling. " I just needed a new pen I left mine in the car.

Breaking eye contact to stare at the elevator door, internally cursing it to open so that I could escape this awkwardness. One glance at the slightly shorter bodyguards face and you could see the amusement across it of not believing that lie made my stomach go in my ass.

Damien's expression mimicked his guards, and I could tell he was keeping himself from chuckling. "I see," he said finally. "Well, I appreciate you telling this but I'm happy to inform you that your pen is clipped to your shirt pocket" he winked as my face turned red in mortification.

the whole situation became worse as my earlier wish of the elevator doors opening came true.

We stepped out into a sleek, modern conference room filled with executives and businesspeople. I took a deep breathe, to convince myself to just do my best and prove that I could at least be some what useful to Damien.

As we entered the conference room, I couldn't help but feel like a fish out of water. The people in the room were all impeccably dressed, with perfectly styled hair and expensive watches. Meanwhile, I was wearing my best shirt and pants, which were clearly out of place in this environment.

I took my seat next to Damien at the long, polished table, feeling like a fraud. What was I doing here? I barely knew how to take notes, let alone understand the complex financial jargon that the executives were about to discuss.

As the meeting began, I tried to keep up with the conversation, jotting down notes as quickly as I could. But it was all moving too fast, and I found myself struggling to keep pace. I took a deep breath and focused on the discussion. I didn't understand everything, but I was able to pick up on key points and jot down questions that I could ask Damien later.

As the meeting continued, I realized that the people in the room were very important. They were discussing multi-million dollar deals and investments, and their every word carried weight. It was intimidating, to say the least.

My legs betrayed me, bouncing slightly in nervousness under the table. I had to be perfect, or else I might cause problems for Damien's company. Just as I was on the brink of giving up and faking a heart attack to escape this nightmare, I felt a warm and powerful grip on my thigh. I didn't need to look to know who it was. One glance at the bulging veins on the hand that held me captive, and I knew it was Damien.
