"Auughh.." Kevin swung the back door tiredly, closing the door that led to the inside of the Candy Club, getting ready for his 15 minute break while he switched with Rick. Kevin sat down near a bunch of boxes that they had near the back of the Candy Club, pulling out his phone since he keeps forgetting to bring his lunch to work, making him extremely hungry on his breaks at the point where sometimes he will sneak candy just so his stomach can feel less empty. But today Kevin didn't feel like eating anything sweet, plus he wasn't going to risk getting caught with that one old rusty camera that sits around near the break room.
Kevin sighed, leaning one of his arms on his leg as his hand rested on his face so he could rest his head while having support and on the other hand held his phone, scrolling through his phone like there was no tomorrow. Kevin was so zoned out that the small noise of something falling quickly snapped him out of his gaze, making him jump and jitter a bit. He put down his phone to see a small black figure in front of him. Kevin got up in a rush, almost tripping over his own feet. His mind racing. "Oh god, what if it's another one of those messed up monsters those kids keep bringing, some type of ink creature that is going to expand and attack me just like how that doll did!" The small black thing turned around, for its small yellow-greenish eyes to show, it was a small black kitten, with something in its mouth.
Kevin stared at the kitten and then sighed in relief, before he noticed it chewing something small and also black. "Hey, what are you eating?" Kevin walked towards the kitten as the kitten dropped what it was eating and jumped back hissing. Kevin looked at the small piece of licorice on the floor that the kitten was eating. "Licorice? Last time I checked, cats eat fish and mice." Kevin backed away from the kitten as he watched it slowly crawl back to the licorice and drag it into a small open box facing sideways. "Poor thing." Kevin felt sympathy for the kitten because it probably didn't have anything to eat and has most likely been eating left over open candy laying around the back of the Candy Club.
Kevin went into the breakroom where they had a sink. Kevin grabbed a small paper plate and poured some water into it as he carefully walked back out, laying it in front of the box that the kitten was hiding in. Kevin backed up and sat back near the boxes watching patiently. Eventually the yellow eyes of the kitten slowly faded away from the dark and went outside the box to drink the water Kevin layed out giving it a sniff first before drinking it. Kevin watched quietly amused by something for the first time in a while, while at his job. Rick burst open the back door and made Kevin jump out of his seat and jitter up facing Rick. "I'm done." "O-Oh yeah- thanks dude." "Whatever." Kevin turned his head to see if he could get a look at the kitten, but it wasn't there anymore.
Hours pass and Kevin's night shift is over. He goes to the back of Candly Club and unhooks his bike that was connected to a bike rack. He looked down the part where the kitten was on his break but didn't see anything, so he left for his house. Once Kevin was home he put his bike in the back and took his keys out of his pocket to his door, entering his house and turning on the lights of his quiet marble styled house.
He took off his work clothes and got into something comfy and then went to the kitchen, swinging open the fridge in desire looking for something to eat. He noticed his sandwich that he made last night for today but totally forgot. He thought about eating it but he figured he could just save it for tomorrow and actually bring a lunch to work and not forget this time. He just made himself some simple packaged ramen and watched some TV before heading off to bed with a good 6 hours of sleep.
