Running from my problems wasn't working out for me.

After I walked away from Ryan the first time, I ran into him on my way to the bathroom and then again on my way to grab more food. Both times he tried to talk to me, and both times I walked away as fast as I could.

I continued to lounge under the sun with Deja and some other nice girls for a few hours until Pandora invited us onto her yacht. I wasn't a big fan of boats so I was about to decline her offer when I saw Ryan walking towards us. Our eyes met and I could see the silent plea in his eyes, asking for a chance to talk. I broke our eye contact and focused my eyes back on Pandora. "So?" she asked. "Are you two in? I promise it's not a lot of people on there-"
"We're in," I said quickly. I looked over at Deja and she raised an eyebrow at me before looking over at my shoulder. I could see it on her face that she saw Ryan.
"Right yes, let's go!" she grabbed both of our hands and we started running to Pandora's yacht.

"This has been so fun," Jax said before shoving the rest of his hotdog in his mouth. He joined us after we got off Pandora's yacht, and was upset he missed the chance to get closer to Pandora. Deja and him bickered for a while, which I was used to. I could clearly see how Deja had feelings for Jax, but that boy was blind and I'm pretty sure he wasn't exactly aware of his feelings for Deja. That dumb boy better figure it out soon or I was going to have to spell it out for him.

The stars sprinkled across the night sky. It was a little past eleven, so we had less than an hour left of the bonfire. We sat in dry sand inches away from the calm cold water. It spilled like midnight dark ink across the horizon.

I snapped out of my thoughts hearing Deja's laugh as it danced with Jax's throughout the salty ocean air. Next to me, Deja shivered suddenly. "Deja are you cold?" Jax turned to her with a panicked look in his eyes.
"No I'm fine," she said before shivering again.
"You're lying."
"No I'm n-not!"
"Yes you are," he said, taking off his sweatshirt. I heard Deja's breath hitch as a shirtless sat before her. I'm guessing she assumed he had something on underneath his sweatshirt. A lock of his brunette hair fell into his left eye as he looked at her, arm extended holding the sweatshirt.
"Thank you," she managed before pulling it over her head. Jax's eyes sparkled as he looked at her in his hoodie.

The sweet sound of an acoustic guitar floated through the air along with a faint voice. It drew me in like a siren's song. "Hey do you guys hear that music?" I asked.
"Yeah let's go check it out," Jax stood up, offering Deja his hand, which she accepted with a giggle.

We strolled over to a group of teens gathered around a campfire. I could now hear his voice better. Whoever he was, he truly had the voice of an angel. I tried to peer around the tall guy in front of me but I couldn't see who was singing. It was a song I didn't recognize. "What song is this?" I asked Deja.
"Oh it's an original song, I've never heard this one before it must be new."
"Does he actually release music?"
"Um yes! I'm really surprised you didn't know this," Deja looked at me like I was crazy. It didn't surprise me that my new school had a popstar, but I still had no clue who was singing.
"How big is he?"
"I mean he kinda just started out but his songs get a good bit of attention."
"What's his name then, maybe I've heard of him," I said, trying to peer around the guy in front of me.
"Wait have you not seen him yet?" Deja asked. She pulled me into her spot and I had a perfect view of who was singing. It was Ryan. Of course it was Ryan, with his perfect fluffy brunette hair blowing perfectly in the air. I've never heard him sing like that, I didn't know he was that talented! Actually I didn't even know he sang at all or even liked it. I felt both mesmerized as he played and like I had a knife in my gut. Maybe I really didn't know Ryan that well at all. Maybe he hid that from me the whole time we were best friends. Or maybe he is a totally different person now.
"Just give me one more chance, that's all I need, to explain what happened between you and me," he sang, concluding his song. Everyone screamed and cheered as he stood up and took a bow, his friends jumping on him and slapping his back. He looked genuinely happy, which warmed my heart but also squeezed it a little bit. For a moment, he looked at me and held my gaze before one of his friends jumped between us.

It was past midnight now, and everyone was packing up to leave. Jax and Deja were bickering again, and I had been standing there for the past five minutes listening to them. "Hey guys I'll wait for you by the car, I want to say by to Pandora," I lied before walking off, not sure if they heard me. The real reason I left was to find Ryan. After hearing him sing, I realized he has probably changed a lot since we went our separate ways, and that I should give him another chance.

Authors note:

I took a little break and then randomly decided to write this while listening to Justin Bieber for no reason at all lol
