"Kitty, you'll be fine." Katherine Kennedy's older brother, Damon said to her as she prepared for her first day at a real school. The Kennedy family had lived lived in the same place but because of their parents were never home. Damon had to work two jobs just to pay rent. Katherine had to be in California for thirteen years of her life. Katherine had been homeschooled by her brother for her entire life, but she was about to attend a real school for the first time ever. "Just have fun and make lots of friends." Her little sister said. "It's not easy, Mor. You try transferring to a new school in the middle of the year." "Alright, girls, whatever, just go." Damon said. Katherine rolled her eyes and walked to the door and to see her parents smoking and drinking with their new girlfriend. "Bye mom and dad." Katherine yelled out to her parents who didn't responded to her. Katherine rolled her eyes at her parents and opened the door as Damon and Morgan closed it as the trio drove to school.

Katherine looked around the cafeteria for a place to sit. She saw two boys and two girls sat alone at a table in the corner. She quickly walked out, trying to avoid Moon and Yasmine, the girl who had already started picking on her. "Hey, is seat taken?" She asked asking the girls. "Uh...not at all." The auburn girl responded. Katherine sat down. "I'm Katherine, but I like to be called Kitty." She said, introducing herself. "I'm Winnifred but call me Winnifred, that's Cleopatra but call her Cleo, he's Demetri, and this is Eli. He doesn't talk much." The same girl said. "Nice to meet you guys." Katherine responded.

"Did you have a good first day at school?" Damon asked as he picked up Katherine later that afternoon. "Yeah, Day, I actually did." She responded. "Make any friends?" He asked as he pulled of the middle school parking lot. "Mhm." Katherine said as she nodded. "That's great, Kit." "You know what, Day? I think I'm really gonna like it here."
