"Please tell me you are not honestly thinking of this gown, Ella." I flashed Tara a look as I examined myself in the mirror. The gown I wore was beautiful and seemed to fit me well, but both of my sisters seemed to disagree about how it looked on me.
I sighed and rolled my eyes, though internally, I was really grateful for their help. I had never even thought about ballgowns before this, so I didn't really know what to look for in a gown for myself. I glanced at Diana, who smiled as she watched.
"Here, try this one, Ella," Rachel suggested, holding out a beautiful, pink gown. I hesitated for a moment.
"Alright. I will try it on. But I am not promising to buy it," I answered with a slight smile.
"Ugh. Who knew this one would be so heavy?" I asked as I dragged myself out of the dressing room into the main area for my family to see. Rachel and Tara giggled as Diana smiled more.
"I am of the mind that when you find the right one, it does not feel heavy," Diana replied, studying me.
"How do you know that we will find the right one for me? Before the ball tonight?" I called out through the dressing room curtain.
"Because I know you, Ella. You are determined and you do not stop until you've reached your goal," Diana said as I came out, wearing a sparkling, floor-length blue gown. Tara's eyes widened as she saw me.
