New York. 5:30 pm
"Yeah can I get 25 on pump three please". The old man at the register licked his lips and grinned. "Sure sweetheart, You wanna help me out wit sum first?" I cringed and decided to walk away from the old perv. He scoffed at me "you young bitches need to learn how to respect ya elders" I rolled my eyes and continued out the gas station. I pumped my gas and got in my car to head to class. I just wanted to hurry up and graduate college already so I could prepare to start my own business and prove my sperm-donor wrong.
Ten minutes later and the familiar looking building comes into view. It was still a bit early so I could stop by Starbucks and grab a quick bite to eat and a latte. It was late spring the heat was coming in super hot. It was finally time for crop tops and mini skirts, No more dull tights and huge ass puffer coats and timberline boots(Tims). I enjoyed the hot weather it was better than the cold. "Asia!" I heard from the counter, I looked away from the window and walked towards the counter. "Here's your croissant and vanilla bean latte" I smiled and nodded at the guy behind the counter grabbed my items and left.
"Girl can I borrow your notes for history class please" my best-friend Khalil asked. I chuckled but handed her the notes anyways. This bitch never pays attention to anything 99% of the time. "Ms.Reeds, Is there anything you would like to add to my lesson?" The professor called out to Khalil. She looked up in embarrassment "no ma'am" Mrs.James (the professor) nodded "keep the chit chat to a minimum please, You need to learn everything I'm teaching you for your exams next week." Khalil nodded "yes ma'am understood I apologize." As soon as Mrs.James went back to teaching the lesson I snickered at my Best friend and continued to write my notes.

"So There's this frat party Saturday and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me." I sighed she ask this question all the damn time there's a party. "No, This Is a dann never ending cycle with you and these damn frat parties. Worry bout ya grades hoe and not trying to get an STD." I said taking a bite out of my glizzy, Khalil rolled her eyes but sighed. She knew I was right, her parents ain't raise her this way, She was taught better than this. And as a young adult it's time for us to stop acting like teenagers and get our shit together. We got bills and shit to pay, We don't for time to be worrying about partying and sleeping in late.
We got a lot of responsibilities and we just hit our 'young adult stage.' "Fine but I'll stop partying and actually get my shit together if you come to this frat party with me one time please." She pleaded while taking one of my fries, I groaned. "Yo ass annoy me so much, shorty it's not even funny." I say mean mugging her she grinned "you'll be ide shawty, Trust you gon have a great time!" She exclaimed taking a sip of her blueberry Faygo. My phone started ringing, it was the hospital that my motha went into for her chemotherapy.
"Yea hold on Li needa answer this real quick." She nodded as I stood up and backed away from the table walking off to answer the phone.
"Hello?" "Hi, I'm doctor Nash Am I speaking to the daughter of Tanisha Heart?" I sighed "this is she?" There was a long pause before she spoke again. "I'm very sorry to inform you ma'am, But your mothers body has given up with chemotherapy. It's rejecting it and her body is slowly breaking down all of her organs are slowly shutting down one by one.. she only as a day and a half left." I bite my nail to stop myself from causing a terrible scene. I took a deep breath in and released out "I'll be there in 30 minutes." "I've also contacted her husband but I haven't gotten a response back from him yet." I scoffed "okay thank you." I said hanging up the phone.
I walked back to the table and packed up my things "Yo Li I gotta go to the hospital." She nodded "I understand go to ha, Stay safe." "Yeah you too." I said placing a twenty on the table and leaving.
