The Story of Serge and Genesi

Serge is one of warriors of Troy that survived in the fall of Troy through Andromache, the widow of Hector. They passed a tunnel below the city which leads to the great pasteur of Mount Ida. His wife, Genesi, died when three Greek soldiers forcibly went inside their home and seduced her to death. His heart is now  in full despair because of his unconditional love to his wife.

He prayed to Apollo to revive Genesi and Apollo appeard to him as an old emissary. The old emissary told Serge that in order to revive Genesi, he must go to the underworld. He was teriffied by the fact of going to realm of the dead but conquered his fear because of his unconditional love for Genesi. Serge must  find a golden borough in the Lake of Avernus, a  dark  foul -smelling  sheet   of   water  and present it to the ferryman Charon who ferries the death. Also he needs to give cake to Cerberus, the three – headed dog of Hades because he doesn't allow the living to enter Hades. Serge travelled to the Lake Avernus and waste no time to find the golden borough then found nothing.

The goddess of Hearth, Hestia was pitiful enough to guide Serge to find a golden thorough. The golden borough was found in the end of the Lake Avernus and Hestia took him to the entrance of the underworld. She given him a platinum torquiose shell to present it to Persephone and Hades as an offering.

Serge went inside the entrance of the underworld. He found himself soon on a  road wrapped  in shadows which yet permitted him to see frightful forms on either  side,   pale  Disease  and  avenging  Care, and  Hunger that  persuades to crime,  and so on, a great  company of terrors. Death –dealing War was there was there and mad Discord with snaky, bloodstained hair and many another curse to mortals. He passed unmolested through them and finally reached a place where an old man was rowing a boat over a stretch of water. There he saw a pitiful sight, spirits on the shore innumerable as the leaves which fall in the forest at the first cold of winter, all stretching out their hands and praying the ferryman to carry them across to the farther bank. But the gloomy old man made his own choice among them; some he admitted to his skiff, others he pushed away.

Charon was inclined to refuse Serge when he came into the boat. Charon bade him halt and told him he did not ferry the living, only the dead. At sight of the golden bough, however, he yielded and took him across. Serge meet the dog, Cerberus on the other side of the river and he mollified the dog by a piece of cake. He continued to walk in the shadowy area of the underworld until he saw a golden gate.

Upon entering the golden gate, he saw Hades and Persephone in their thrones. He knelt down to them and told them that he want to be with Genesi again.Serge presented the platinum torquiose shell as an offering. Persephone was amazed in Serge because of his courage to travel the underworld. She was pleased by his determination and beg Hades the grant Serge's wish. Hades granted the request of Serge's but in one condition, Serge must sacrifice his eyes for the life of Genesi. Serge feared nothing and he undoubtfully sacrificed his eyes to Hades. Genesi was given back to life and accompanied Serge to go out from the underworld through the river of Lethe, the river of forgetfullness. They drunk the water of the river and they have forgotten all of their memories but still Serge is blind.

            The couple went back to the Mount Ida without any memory left and they didn't know who they are. The only thing they knew was they love each other. Hestia saw the couple's pitiful situation. She asked Mnemosyne, a Titan God of Memory to bring back the couple's memories and Artemis to open the blinded eyes of Serge. Mnemosyne and Artemis granted the request of Hestia. Serge and Genesi remember all what happened in the Trojan War and in the Underworld. Serge opened his eyes and can able to see the light again. Sergenius,father of the great Alexander,  s the only son of Serge and Genesi.
