"Yanqing!" You called throughout the courtyard. The sun was burning, the trees in the courtyard too short to provide ample shade as you walked along the white pebble path.

"Oh, come on, Yanqing! I don't have time for this, I have to get home and grade these papers!" You yelled, referencing to the assignments that your students had completed. You were an elementary school teacher, and you were picking up your little brother Yanqing to take him home.

Just as you were about to call out your brother's name once more, you looked in the distance to see him doing sword strikes, along with a man who you could only assume was his mentor.

You didn't exactly approve of the idea of your brother seeking to be a part of the Cloud Knights, but it wasn't as though it was your decision. Ever since your parents had become increasingly busy, they'd decided to send you to retrieve Yanqing rather than themselves.

You watched silently as your brother yelled out the number that he was on, until he hit ten thousand.

"A Cloud Knight must never let slip their weapon, nor let slacken their form. Though, you'll have to grow a little taller before the Knights will have you." You heard the man tease your little brother.

Your face fell slightly as you hid yourself behind one of the trees and leaned your back against it. You rested your head against the trunk and looked to the sky, sunset would begin soon, you thought.

Listening to those words made you remember the time when you were a Cloud Knight yourself. However, you'd left that life behind to pursue teaching, and now you taught your own school with your own classes for children who couldn't afford proper tuition.

The only people who knew about your past were your parents and a few select Knights that were in your graduating class. You subconsciously gripped on the bag slung around your shoulder that held the ungraded assignments.

You gave a sigh and turned your head slightly to hear what they were talking about.

"You know, you have your sister's fighting spirit." The older man spoke, causing your heart to drop. There was something forming in the pit of your stomach as you held your breath.

"My sister? Y/n's a teacher, what do you mean?" Yanqing questioned while lowering his sword in surprise. The older man's back was facing you, and he let out a small laugh before bringing both of his hands behind his back and holding them there.

"So, that's what she went on to do. Well, do commend your sister for me when you see her." Yanqing's mentor lowly requested, and you watched as your brother's eyes lit up when seeing you emerge from behind the tree line.

"Y/n! Mom and Dad didn't tell me you'd be coming, are they at the front?" He raced towards you and gave a hug towards your taller figure. You only smiled fondly down at him while rubbing his back affectionately.

When you looked up, his mentor was gone, and you couldn't see him anywhere. It was almost as if he'd just disappeared without a trace.

"Sorry, Yanyan, Mom and Dad aren't here. They're busy right now, so they asked me to come pick you up and bring you home." You answered his question, and you noticed his smile fall slightly while looking down.

"Oh, okay. It's fine, I get it." He replied, and you felt your heart ache before taking his hand in yours with a bright smile.

"Come on, you want to come to my house for a little before I take you home? I still have your favorite snacks in my pantry." You tried to convince him, but a small expression of perplexity crossed his face.

"Y/n, the General said that I have your fighting spirit, and that he commends you for becoming a teacher. Do you know what he meant? Did you two know each other?" Yanqing questioned while still holding onto your hand as you both walked through the training courtyard.
