THE EXAM
It's Wednesday, and today is the day that I have my 'life changing exam' well as the teachers called it. I set forth to an ordinary blue door to massive room with little desks with uncomfortable plastic chairs all in a perfect row.
But if I'm being honest nothing about today seemed 'perfect' it wasn't about the fact that there was one blue chair in a whole row of red chairs or the fact that the Pe teacher was in the Corner of the room asleep. No, it felt more sinister, more alive, scarier.
I shrugged it off and just thought it was just nerves, it isn't every day that you have a maths GCSE exam? And so, I found my seat and sat down in front of a little desk with a maths test on it, a few moments later sir comes in and says "alright, you can pick up your pens and start, you know the rules be silent, or you know what will happen" he says impatiently.
I couldn't seem to concentrate, I mean I revised everything the night before, but my mind just could not seem to focus on the test, then suddenly, I felt something drip out of my nose it landed on my test, I got my left hand I wiped my nose to see blood, before I knew it everything went black.
I woke up. Everything seemed fuzzy and not clear, but all I could think about was what happened? Where am I? Why am I here? Everything came into focus. As my eyes were coming back to reality, i saw a blue outfit it seemed like a nurses outfit. The nurse saw i was trying to open my eyes. Waited a few seconds before speaking. "Ah, you're awake. You gave your mother a poor fright, you did. Now, I do have to ask some questions while you're awake so I can assess what happened leading up to now. Is it okay with you....Ethan Walker?"
I just nodded, that gave her an answer she needed, she asked the usual questions, like "what's your date of birth" "how old I am," I didn't speak I just showed using my hands or just wrote it down and showed her what is says, but for the most part I just nodded or shook my head, but definitely Did not say a word.
It was all new to me. No one told me how I ended up here. All I remember is.. is nothing..? I need answers, and the best way to get answers is to talk, so I gave it a go at speaking.
"Hey, nurse?" I ask,
"Yes, my lovely?" She responds with concern.
"Do you know how I ended up in here?"
"Oh yes, according to your teacher, you had a noise bleed and fainted, but I do have to ask. Has this happened before?" She asks,
I shake my head. Well, I don't think this has happened. From what I remember. nothing of the sort, it was probably the stress of the exam. Yes, the stress..
