Summer arrived early. Clear blue sky, denotes a calm and peaceful ambiance for today’s season. Amari roam her eyes, she notices the abrupt change of the garden, but the flower still in bloom. There was a photograph of memories that she couldn’t get out of her mind: last summer, the gentle touch of the sun rays, the loud echoes of laughter in the middle of the sea, the flower field at the back of the resort, the biggest plot twist of her life.
“Look, their garden is pretty. Here, bulaklak, pretty as you,” Callisto said with a smile plastered on his face as he step closer to put the flower on between Amari’s messy hair and ear. “Perfect, you made summer hotter,” Callisto added. Amari’s cheeks burned with blush as she gaze Callisto’s eyes, she falls madly in love with those eyes, everytime. She closed her eyes as the tears dripped down on her cheeks. She opened them again, and the memories flashed back.
“See you next summer, Amari,” iyan ang huling kataga na binitawan ni Callisto bago maglihis ang kanilang landas. Every summer, that place, that’s become their tagpuan. But... “Five summer have passed, Callisto,” Amari whispered as she put the bouquet of flower on the top of Callisto’s tomb. She gently carresed it. “Mahal kita,” she whispered, then bit her lower lip to stop herself from sobbing. She never speaks about how she feels to him, but she’s still hoping that he survived and that he’s still here with her, making fun memories under the sun roof. She stood up and faked a smile, “Until our next summer, my love.”
She died after that summer, longing for the love she can’t found without his presence. That unforgettable summer was her unforgettable love.
