Suddenly, a series of rapid knocks echoed through the janitor's closet, causing Jada's and Ahmed's hearts to skip a beat. Panic flashed in their eyes as they exchanged worried glances, their minds racing to find a solution. Jada pressed a finger to her lips, silently signaling Ahmed to stay silent. They strained their ears, desperately trying to discern who was on the other side."Hello? Is anyone in there?" a voice called out, sounding both concerned and authoritative. It was Mr. Thompson, the diligent janitor who regularly patrolled the building. The gravity of the situation washed over Jada and Ahmed, intensifying their fear and adrenaline.
Jada's mind worked swiftly, scanning the small room for any possible hiding spot. Her eyes landed on a towering pile of mops stacked in the corner, and she knew it was their only chance at avoiding discovery. She gestured urgently to Ahmed, motioning for him to move aside and make way for her plan. With a mix of trepidation and determination, she swiftly climbed on top of the mops and buried herself beneath their bristly mass, praying that her presence would go unnoticed.
The door creaked open, and Mr. Thompson stepped into the closet, his flashlight casting eerie shadows across the room. He glanced around, his experienced eyes searching every nook and cranny. Ahmed stood frozen, desperately trying to portray innocence as his heart pounded against his chest, his silent prayers becoming more fervent by the second.
As the beam of light ventured closer to the pile of mops, Jada's heart raced even faster, threatening to expose her hiding place. She held her breath, her body tense with anticipation. The seconds stretched into an eternity as Mr. Thompson's footsteps drew nearer, each sound reverberating through the confined space.
Just as the light hovered ominously over the mop pile, Mr. Thompson's walkie-talkie crackled to life, startling him. Another staff member urgently called for his assistance, alerting him to an emergency spill in a different part of the building. Relief surged through Mr. Thompson, compelling him to hastily exit the closet, unknowingly leaving Jada concealed beneath the mops.
Silence descended upon the room once more, a cloak of secrecy that enveloped Jada as she cautiously emerged from her hiding spot. Her heart thudded in her chest as her eyes met Ahmed's in disbelief. Gratitude surged between them, expressed through an embrace that conveyed their shared relief and admiration for Jada's quick thinking.
"You were amazing," Ahmed whispered, his voice filled with awe and gratitude.
Jada managed a shaky smile, her voice barely a whisper. "We were lucky. Let's not take any more risks like this."
Ahmed nodded, his eyes reflecting newfound determination. "You're right. We need to find a safer place, somewhere we won't get caught."
They stood there for a moment, their hearts still racing, their bodies buzzing with the lingering adrenaline. The narrow escape had only served to intensify their desire for each other, fueling their passion and resolve.
They walk out and while walking back to their class they see Ahmed's ex girlfriend standing there, he turns around immediately but Jada keeps on walking. Jada walks into her classroom and the girl gives her the fakest smile that she has ever seen.
