Ayaka barges into ayatos office with an angry expression on her face.
"ayaka, what is the mat-"
"You're not coming to Thomas wedding!"
ayaka was angry enough that she didn't care to lower her voice, and then she continued while marching to his desk. "thoma has been a loyal member of the household since we were children. This might be the last time we see him, and you can't even take the time to attend his wedding?!""ah well I've been caught up with work,"
"You could take time off work for something so important," and as she calmed down, she finally noticed the sadness in his eyes different than she'd ever seen them.
"Brother, what is wrong?"she frowned deeper.Ayato, noticing her worry, decides quickly to cover up his sadness. "Ah, nothing. I'm just wondering how we'll survive without thoma." he smiles paired with a light chuckle to reassure her he's fine.
"So it's about thoma leaving. I know you'll miss him, and I will too, but he deserves this happiness, brother."
And with a sigh he let's go of the facade and offers up a small smile. He says, "I know it's just hard to let go of such an important person to this household."
Ayaka worried for her sibling, Thoma was pretty much the only friend Ayato had, of course, it would be hard to let him go. Long past her anger she took his hand "brother, he cares for you so dearly, sometimes I even think more than me" she chuckled and continued "so it would mean the world to him for you to be there."
Even with his heart aching as much as it was, he knew he had to be there, and so he decided to attend it.
Watching thoma get married right in front of him with no way to stop it or charge in front of him and demand he marry him instead made him feel so helpless and powerless, it was harder to watch him kiss his new wife, than
And when thoma eyed the crowd and their eyes met for just a glance, his heart skipped a beat, betraying his wish to not be so utterly heartbroken about the whole scene.
So when the ceremony ended, he left immediately, not being able to handle a second more of this without possibly throwing up.
He wished he'd told him earlier about his feelings, but what would that change? Thoma would never have those feelings towards him and he shouldn't, no matter how much he feels this way towards him he'd never allow himself to be with thoma because he's never thought he deserves the adoration he'd get from thoma much less his precious and caring love.
And he'd never know if the woman thoma had just married is worthy either because he never wants to have the chance to learn of her personality, it would be far too painful to see her and point out the features she has that ayato would never have been able to offer him.
And so he fled to his office. It was the closest place he could be alone since ayaka had offered that thoma have his wedding right at the kamisato estate.
Ayaka then went to find him, in his office with teary eyes, and buried in paperwork to distract him from all of what he's feeling.
Ayaka immediately hurried to him, worried and feeling she knew what he might be feeling. She went to hug him, and after that, ayato returned the act, trying to hold back tears, thinking it was foolish to cry about something that could not be changed, but he did anyway.
A memory of ayaka and thoma comforting him after his harsh first day of work came to mind just then and made the tears fall harder.
