I groaned as my roommate, Vivian, smacked a pillow on my face.

Just two more weeks and I would have an apartment all to myself.

Thank god.

I liked Viv, but I finally found a way to budget in an apartment despite the college debt that at this point, was sinking past my bank accounts already barren floor.

After my gracious awakening I quickly got ready for my 11:00 a.m class.
—————————
I basically ran out of that lecture, this was always the difficult part. My first class ends at 12:00 and my next one starts at 12:00...But, Professor Bennet usually ends class 5-10 minutes early. The next issue is that the class is on the other side of campus, which tends to be a 7 minute walk unless I'm not stopped I can make it in 5.
Ugh, and this is why you should always hand in your schedules on time or else you end up with really shitty times.
And of course my professor was this real douche of a guy who locks the door the millisecond after the clock hits 12.

It was gonna be close, Bennet ended class exactly 3 minutes early so I was in a hurry.

Out of breath I made it to the hallway until I received a notification, it was to wish my cousin happy birthday, BUT what really caught my attention was the 12:02 PM.

shit shit shit

Mumbling to myself I rushed to the door praying for a substitute who would not lock the door.

To my absolute excitement the handle slid and pushed open.

The universe really does love me

But when I walked in there was no substitute, it was just students sitting and speaking quietly.

I walked to sit toward the middle next to my friend.

Mina looked at me,
" Reyes is a no show" She said referring to our professor.

" Really?! No way." I answered sarcastically.

She rolled her eyes, continuing to talk,

" Weird no? He hasn't taken a day off since the civil war ended."

"Maybe he died of old age"

"Maybe he died after looking in the mirror"

We both laughed and I responded after attempting to catch my breath.

" Every-time I feel too lazy to put on sunscreen I think of him"

Our childish cackling was quickly interrupted by the door slamming and heels clicking.

There now stands an interesting looking woman, tall with dark and curly hair cascading down her back. She wore a white fitted top with a squared neckline and beige belted pants, a blazer was folded over her arm and heels carried the gold adorned woman to the desk. She placed the blazer over the chair and turned to the class.

Her posture was strong and confident.

Ahhhh shit, that is the irresistible woman at the bar who I miserably failed to call back the day after out of pure fear.
I swear I was gonna call her by the end of the week.... But Monday came too fast.
As she looked up in my direction I tried to sink into my chair.

"I regret to inform you all that your professor has unfortunately been stabbed to death by his neighbor who had unfortunately entered a severe state of psychosis"
She said this apathetically— blankly with nothing but ice glazed over her black eyes.

"Maybe she's ate him or some crap..." Mina whispered and I covered my face feigning laughter as I tried not to freak out about how the woman I actually hit it off so well with is now my stupid professor.
UGH

Her eyes darted towards Mina
" Starting now I will have no talking, fail to comply and I will remove you from the class"
She briskly walked to a white board behind her and wrote in neat cursive,
"Professor Angelos"

She started talking immediately, on an on about... Honestly I wish I knew.
My mind was wandering back to the intelligent woman I conversed with that previous Friday.

The confidence in her voice abruptly stopped, "Well I'm most definitely not writing your notes for you."
At that the rustle of paper and opening of laptops echoed through the room.

I took my phone out and pressed record, knowing full well I would not be able to keep up.

——————————🤍

Class was about to end and I was lost. Confused. Very.
The class, forensic psychology, was usually taught by Reyes, an old fashion guy but a good teacher. Ms. Angelos was insane. She spoke fast but she knew what she was talking about.
However her mannerisms where a shock compared to the normal laid backs professors.

"Alright that's it for today. You may leave."
Angelos swiftly turned on her red bottoms and to her chair.

Mina came up to meet me, "Uhhh ok" she said
"Can we get açaí bowls—" I tried asking her until I heard a clear voice,
"You, girl , come here."

um did she just "girl" me?!

Mina gave me an oooooh your in trouble look and walked outside.

"So I take it you don't care for my lesson?" I could basically smell her passive aggression.

"Uh" I reply pathetically. Her face showed zero sign of recognition. Neither of us were very tipsy at the bar, so she was faking. Which did indeed make me a little sad.

"You took no notes, that's not my problem however if you plan on failing you better leave now because believe it or not this class is in high demand." I hope she's not taking her anger out on me for not calling back...

"I uh- recorded it to listen back to later?" I said, trying and failing to sound confident. Ms. Angelos had this weird presence of making you question whether or not you should walk the same ground as her.

"You recorded it?" She raised her eyebrow.

"I did, i can show you."

"Alright show me"

I quickly broke eye contact and awkwardly searched in my bag for my phone and showed her that i had a recording.

She took my phone, the same phone she typed her number in... Looked at the screen then at me. "You struggle with paying attention?"

"Um no not really-"

"Are you dyslexic?"

"No" I say a little confused.

"Then you don't need this." I could hear her nails tapping the screen and deleting my recording.
"I suggest you learn to take notes."

I stood in front of her, a bit dumbfounded. Wanting to gain some power over the situation i snatched my phone from her hand and walked out, I don't think that came across as powerful though, just bratty.

I walked out and met up with
Mina, I knew she was trying to hold in her laughter. When she gained some composure I asked to copy her notes...
