It was just another day, another stroll back home as I my attention got caught by this figure standing in an alley, clearly trying to roll a joint. As I came nearer, I saw he wasn't doing a great job and giggled.
"Need a hand?" I asked. The figure looked up at me clearly irritated at my amusement, that's when I saw it was Gary. Gary Barlow. What did he do here, in the streets of Amsterdam, rolling a joint? The expression of surprise must have been all over my face as he sighed and replied.
"Please tell me you don't actually know who I am?" He asked. Irritation making way for desperation as he quit whatever he was trying to do with the mixture of weed and tobacco in his hand.
"I'm afraid I do." I hesitated telling him I was a big fan as well but decided not to as he seemed not that bothered. It now started to rain. "You wanna go around to my apartment?" I asked, a bit too excited maybe as he seem surprised by the offer I just made him. "I mean, it's raining and I could fix that for you." I said, pointing at the mess he was still holding in his hand.
"Right. Let's go then." was all he said as he followed me back to the building I lived in. We didn't talk much on the way there. I asked me how I knew him as he was sure not too many people in Amsterdam would. I told him I had been a fan ever since they got back together which got a slight giggle from him.
"Ok, there we are." I said as we arrived at where I lived. "Now, please don't get scared off okay? You might find your face on the wall a few times." I blushed. It was true though. I had about two big pictures of him framed in my living room.
"Thought you said you were a casual fan then?" He looked straight at me as we entered the narrow elevator. This was the first time I got to look him into his eyes. They were beautiful, a dark emerald green colour but with tiny slightly darker spots in it.
"Jesus!" Was the first thing he said as he stepped into my little apartment facing one of the poster of him I had up.
"I told you." I say as I looked to the ground slightly embarrassed.
"Well, at least you took a good picture of me." He continued as he inspected the rest of my apartment. It wasn't big, but then again, I lived in here on my own. It had a sofa facing the TV, a desk, two seats and then the stairs going up to an open space where my bed was as well as my bathroom. Underneath was the kitchen.
"So, do you want a cuppa tea then?" I asked, changing subjects.
"Please." Was all I got in return.
I came back two minutes later with two steaming hot mugs in either hand. Gary had taken place on the sofa now and was going through a magazine which found its original place back on the salon table as I placed the mug in front of him.
"You need me to roll one then?" I asked and he nodded. was it embarrassment I saw in his face?
"Haven't done it in a long time." he confessed. "Haven't had one either in years now I think about it."
"Really? so Take That isn't all that Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll?" I winked at him.
"Just sex now really, although that's even brought to a minimum." he said laughing to himself. I rolled the join in no time and he seemed quite impressed with my talent.
"I'm impressed .... shit... I don't even know your name yet?" He said all embarrassed now.
"haha, no worries. It's Kate." I smiled.
"Pleasure to meet you Kate." He said as he put out his hand for me to shake. "So..... how does a girl like you roll a joint like that?" He was genuinely impressed it seem.
