—-------------------------------------------------
After eating, you must have fallen asleep at some point because when you gained consciousness, Dot and Wakko were jumping on your stomach. "I'm awake, I'm awake!" You woke with a slight snore when Wakko landed right on your chest, which hurt like HECK. "We're sorry we took so long, I hope you didn't miss me too much," Dot said, batting her eyelashes. Wakko glared at Dot when she said that. "What do you mean just you, they probably like me more, right Y/N?"
You didn't know what to say, there was literally no win here."Uhhh-"
You didn't have to answer though, because Wakko and Dot were already on the floor fighting, a cloud of dust somehow emerging from them.
"Sorry about them," Yakko said with a tired smirk. "They've been fighting since they had an argument on set." He sighs, obviously done with this.
"Hey you guys!" you tried to shout over all the chaos, it seemed to work, as the two fighting on the floor paused in the most uncomfortable position you could ever imagine.
"How about we eat some food? I made pasta!" Wakko's eyes seemed to light up at the mention of food. Well, your dad always said food is the way to a person's heart. You walked into the kitchen, Wakko basically hugging your leg, their tail wagging so fast it was a blur. You found three bowls, dishing them out for Yakko, Wakko and Dot.
Wakko immediately dug in, forgetting the fact that you didn't give them a fork yet. You placed the bowl in front of Dot, but when you gave Yakko his bowl, he slightly pushed it away. As you went to retrieve forks with a frown, you wondered why he looked so down in the dumps. Afterwards, you sat beside Yakko. "Hey, what's wrong? You've been looking stressed ever since you came back."
A tidal wave of emotions poured out of Yakko, his talking sounding panicked. "At work today our director was mad because apparently the music supervisor quit and he was being really tough, and he started criticising everything we did no matter how small. It was one of those stupid corrections that caused Dot and Wakko to start arguing. I don't even know what to do, the director always has a temper tantrum whenever someone quits or something doesn't go his way and I just don't know what to do." His head was in his hands, and he looked on the edge of tears.
"Hey,hey. Calm down, I'm sure we can figure something out." You actually had no idea what to do, but always being the people-pleaser, you had to say something to give him hope. Rubbing his back, he suddenly shot up, and a light bulb literally appeared over his head.
"Wait, why don't you apply for the job?" Your shock could not even be described at that moment. "I know, I know, it's kind of sudden, but I've heard you sing and play! All you have to do is put your creativity onto paper, and you can make some more money to make up for the stuff your roommate stole!" You shuddered thinking of your former living conditions, but you still weren't sure about the job.
"I don't know, I mean, I just got back into guitar playing, and what if it doesn't work and your director gets more angry?" You asked.
"We'll never know if we don't try, please?" Yakko's eyes became bigger and you swore you could see sparkles in them.
"Ugh, don't look at me like that." Chuckling, he stopped, but still had a slight pleading look on his face.
(Dw new author! OG author got you covered with one last (very rushed) illustration :] )
You thought for a little bit, though it wasn't that hard, considering all the things the Warners had done for you.
"I'll do it, but no promises that I'll get the job." Yakko beamed, most of the stress on his face disappearing.
"Oh thank you so much!" You smiled slightly, just happy that he was happy.
"No problem!" Glancing over at Wakko and Dot, you found that they had finished eating a while ago and were staring at the two of you. "What are you two talking about?" Dot asked with a smirk on her face, while Yakko just looked confused. "It's nothing, don't worry about it." Yakko said very quickly, and you swear you saw a faint blush dust his face. You nodded in agreement, if he didn't want them to know, then you weren't gonna tell.
"Well, alright, let's get ready for bed," Yakko muttered while pushing Dot towards her bed. You giggled at the way she protested, but went to go find your toothbrush and brush your teeth before you went to bed. When you returned from the bathroom, the lights were already off and you heard someone, presumably Wakko, snoring. Trying to find your way to the couch, you bumped into someone. "Ouch!" It was Yakko. "I'm so sorry, oh my gosh." "It's fine, don't worry." You both stood there awkwardly for a second, you still not being able to see his face.
"Thank you for letting me stay with you, if it weren't for you guys, I'd still be living in a literal hellhole." You heard a snort before a burst of laughter came from him. "No problem. No one should be in that kind of situation." You smiled, and you two still stood there, except the silence wasn't awkward this time. "Welp, good night!" (GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY) Yakko said after a little bit. "Good night!" You kept walking forward until you felt the couch and fell asleep.
Maybe life was finally getting better.
