A/N: There is an art piece at the end of the chapter that includes blood and heavy gore
The time machine was gone. He would never see Henwy and Sigils ever again.
He would never see...
Why did it hurt? Why did it have to hurt so much? This was what was for the best.
Right?
His body was starting to go numb, and he was only dimly aware of his blood pooling over the once near and white tiles.
Why did he- why did he do this? Why did he throw away the closest thing he had to a family so he could throw his trust into some...some goddess? A goddess named Death, of all things.
He wanted them back. He didn't care that everyone else was dead, he just wanted to see Henwy and Sigils again. He wanted to hug them, like he used to.
"I thought it wasn't meant to hurt," Nico shivered dangerously. He was surprised he even had the strength to speak, considering his entire stomach was ripped open.
The creature's claws shrank, and her arched back straightened. Wings protruded from her back, and her fluffy tail turned limp and scaly.
Death stood straight, ignoring the blood covering almost every scale on her body and murmured, "Death hurts, Nico."
"Not that," He winced, ignoring that his vision was darkening, "Them leaving."
"Have you not prepared yourself?" Death cooed, flexing her claws, "It's been weeks, Nico."
"I want them back."
Death drew her silver tongue over her bloodied fangs, cleaning them. She peeled her lips back and snarled, "We can talk about this later. Just die already."
Death's image flickered, and then the dragon was gone.
Nico's head lolled, and he closed his eyes. He lifted his head and sought out Biffle, who was laying in his side, blood covering his chest and stomach.
"B-b-Biffle?" Nico stuttered, another wave of pain washing over him, "Y-you s-st-still a-alive?"
Biffle's eyes flickered open, "S-sadly, yeah."
Nico turned away and squeezed his eyes shut. Tears were starting to blur his vision. He wrapped an arm around his stomach, as of it would slow his death to hold his organs back. Blood pooled down his arm. Nico shuddered one last time, then his arm fell to the ground and the tiles rushed up to his head.
