Jerome sighed from effort and stepped back, examining the scythe Kate had requested. Jerome glanced over at the corner where a messy pile of materials were stacked.
For some reason Death gave Jerome a mass amount of this weird black stone that Jerome couldn't quite determine what it was. It certainly wasn't obsidian or netherite. It was relatively strong and sharp, and it was easy to mend.
Jerome would figure it out eventually.
Jerome jumped as an object was slammed onto the counter. Jerome snapped his head around to look at Alxton, who flicked his tail.
He jammed a claw at the thick spear he had dropped on the table, "I need an axe."
Jerome blinked a few times as Alxton's gaze flicked over to the weapons wall, "And I'm going to need a crossbow. And a quiver of arrows. And- um- can you make iron traps? For hunting. I'm hunting. I need stuff. Please."
"Oh- um..." Jerome looked from the spear to the crossbows hanging on the wall, to the pile of metal in the corner, "Yeah...yeah I can do that. How many traps do you need?"
Alxton brightened, "Uhhh...would five be good to start?"
Jerome considered it for a moment, "Yeah. That would probably take...a week, maybe? I'm not quite sure, I haven't made any traps before. Do you want me to make your axe first?"
Alxton nodded as Jerome turned to grab the crossbow and arrows and hand them to Alxton.
"Thanks," Alxton smiled, "I'll see you later."
"No problem," Jerome replied, "Actually- wait, before you go."
Alxton paused and looked back at Jerome. Jerome scratched his neck, "So, you were there when one of those creatures came into the admin's house, right?"
Alxton nodded, "You want to hear about that? Alright, well, at first it was fine. I don't know what classifies as normal, but we didn't see any of them so I thought we were good. Well, after a while, when the second round of noises started, a black fog rolled into the town and came straight for us. Then it came to one of the windows and stared inside at us. It was kinda creepy because it had these wide, unblinking white eyes that stared down at us. Then it came through the wall which, wow, I was lied to when they said the creatures couldn't come inside. Well, then it watched us a little longer, then crouched down and raised its hands as if it were surrendering. Oh yeah, this thing looked oddly human. Anyway, it reached one hand out as if offering for one of us to take it, which I got curious and reached forward, but then it got like- surprised or something and recoiled then just sat there for a minute before the other creatures gathered around the house. Then the humanoid one left and I think two of them got in a fight, then they all just- vanished."
Jerome raised his eyebrows, "Woah. That's scary. What are we going to do about that?"
Alxton thought for a moment, "Underground bunker, maybe?"
"Can we make those in time for tonight?" Jerome asked.
Alxton thought for a moment, "That's a really good question. I'll go talk to the others."
Alxton quickly turned around and sprinted off, leaving Jerome by himself. Jerome turned to the spear, then went to grab some of the metal. He held up a chunk of the ore and considered it for a few moments.
What if...
No that's insane.
Jerome shook his head and stood to begin working on Alxton's weapon.
